10 WWE Superstars with supernatural powers

In an attempt to give as certain things that we dont see anywhere, WWE has produced some gimmicks which looked like they stepped right out from a fantasy movie.Though many of these characters struggled once they got into the ring, there held the crowd captive for at least some moments with their supernatural powers. Often, the crowd accepted them for their off ring theatrics but never saw them as a potential title holder (with some exceptions of course).Such gimmicks have been toned down in the PG Era, but there were enough of them down the history to make a list about them.So here is a look at some of the WWE superstars who gave our favorite comic book heroes a run for their money.

#10 The Big Show

Before he was the friendly big guy in WWE, Big Show had a run in WCW where he was the Giant. And as the Giant he did some pretty unexplainable stuff in WCW.

One was being part of the Dungeon of Doom which was a collection of some weird people who wanted to take Hulk Hogan out and as the feud boiled down; it proved to be the stage for Show to show his powers.

Hogan threw show from top of the Cobo Arena into the Detriot river, but since Big Show had some super powers, he came back dry and alive just minutes later to beat Hogan inside the Arena.

It’s a feat that many couldn’t replicate and for everyone who tried it, you don’t have the super powers like Big Show to pull it off.

#9 The Yeti

If Show coming out of the river dry to face Hogan wasn’t enough, the Dungeon of doom had a backup plan: The Yeti.

Yeti was a heavily bandaged mummy who was frozen inside a block of ice. The bandage was so thick that it looked like he stood taller than the Big Show himself.

And after his icebreaking act, the mummified Yeti went a complete transformation and ended up being a masked Ninja also.

Being alive in the ice like Captain America and then transforming into a Ninja like Mistique, he had some pretty impressive super powers.

#8 The Boogeyman

After all the vampires, Right out from the scary stories of childhood, there was Boogeyman.

Arguably one of the most bizarre characters in the WWE, the Boogeyman used to come out to some weird music and smash a clock with his head.

But the creepiest thing about him was his diet, the Boogeyman had a sweet tooth for live worms and of course the mole of pretty women if you recall what he did to Jillian Hall.

He wasn’t even an average performer inside the ring, and the only purpose that WWE kept him was his character which instantly reminded us of the night in childhood where we used to check under the bed for Boogeyman.

#7 Paul Bearer

Like most of his clients, Paul Bearer had some super powers which made him stand out from other managers of his time.

First he had the power to manipulate Undertaker with an urn which was creepy as hell. But his second power is the one which requires more recognition.

And it was his ability to breathe through concrete. Back when Paul Heyman was feuding with the Undertaker, Heyman buried Bearer in a concrete crypt only for Bearer to come out later well suited and alive.

The whole kayfabe family is possessed with superpowers to be precise and it’s a shame that the WWE didn’t introduce Taker’s mother, who would’ve been fun.

#6 The Taskmaster

The Taskmaster was a character played by WCW booker Kevin Sullivan who had the idea of making a stable to give Hulk Hogan some bad time.

And he eventually managed to do the same when he recruited Kamala, the Barbarian, the Giant and some more weird names to form the Dungeon of doom.

Apart from managing the group of such names, Sullivan also had the power to make the Giant break through the wall.

All he had to do to make it happen was touch the wall and just like that the Giant would come out breaking through the concrete or plaster wall to choke out their greatest opponent.

#5 Mordecai

Many wouldn’t have forgotten Kevin Thorn and Ariel who used to set fire to the ring in WWE’s ECW. And Mordecai was previous incarnation of the same guy.

Mordecai was someone who apparently had the power to light the set on fire by slamming his sword.

Though it was a sight of awe, the character didn’t last long as the WWE decided to pull the plug on it when Kevin got caught in some lawsuit after having a bar fight.

The fans didn’t get to know more about his super powers because of that since the next time we saw him was at ECW in a vampire gimmick.

#4 Gangrel

It could be said that WWE’s love for vampire gimmicks started to go main stream with Gangrel. Though the usual vampires drink blood, Gangrel used to drop it from the ceiling of the Arena.

Along with that he had a ring entrance which was pretty hot, literally. Gangrel came out to the squared circle with a ring of fire surrounding him after the whole blooding dropping thing took place.

And above all, Gangrel was also a stable leader with Edge and Christian under his wing before the duo broke out as a top tag team. Gangrel’s character was fun while it lasted but left no memories worth keeping for the WWE fans.

#3 Kane

Throughout his career, Kane had two superpowers, one was his ability to cause lighting in various parts of the Arena while the other one was to shoot flames from the ring post.

The latter will be the most familiar one as he has been using it for a long time. Usually once he ends his matches, Kane signals to the ring post who immediately shoots some red flame to show that Kane has superpowers.

His powers to shoot lighting only came up once and it was on a Raw taping where Kane caused different parts of the Arena to light up and even set a stage hand on fire with those lightings.

Though there are many stories of Kane having numerous superpowers, these are the only two that he showed till now and we could be treated with something more before his career ends.

#2 Papa Shango

Papa Shango was someone who brought up the voodoo magic to WWE.

Having played gimmicks like The Godfather and Kama the supreme fighting machine in his career, Papa Shango was definetly something different for Charles Wright.

Shango came into the ring with a black cane and skull in his hand which was believed to be the source of his voodoo powers. He had a high profile feud with the Ultimate Warrior also in which the super natural powers were used to make the Warrior sick and puke.

Apart from the puking power, Shango could light his opponent’s shoes on fire and even could make black liquid flow from the face of his opponents.

Wright found more success with his Godfather gimmick but Papa Shango is someone who the fans won’t forget.

#1 The Undertaker

When Taker debuted in the WWE he was controlled by and urn which his manager Paul Bearer carried around. And when the lid came of that urn a light would shine making it one of the mysterious things back then.

And his superpowers didn’t stop there, Taker was a man who came out alive after being buried. He also had the powers to speak from within a casket.

Like his brother, the lighting power also vested with him but his lighting was more vicious than his brother’s since it could collapse the ring. And his disappearing acts were also one of the ways he made the fans go wild.

Taker may be remembered for the legacies he set throughout his career, but keeping them apart, Taker was a wrestler who redefined the word supernatural in professional wrestling.
