3 non-wrestling roles for Daniel Bryan in the WWE

Remember this?

Our guess is as good as yours, DanielThis isn’t going to turn out as everyone hopes it will. There are rumors circulating that Daniel Bryan will make his return to WWE and Monday Night Raw tonight in his home state of Washington. If you expect the former WWE World Champion to wrestle, however, you can extinguish that pipe dream right now.Vince McMahon is reportedly asking Bryan to appear to help promote WrestleMania 32 and for an all-important ratings spike the night after Super Bowl 50. Bryan has been out of action since early last year with concussion issues. Whether he will wrestle in a McMahon-owned ring again is not certain.According to Daily Wrestling News, “Word from sources close to Bryan is that he does not want to come back if they’re not going to clear him to wrestle. Some feel that Bryan will hurt his chances of wrestling for WWE again if he refuses a non-wrestling role.”This is the tug-of-war that has continued between Bryan and McMahon the past few months as Bryan is looking to be cleared by the company’s medical staff. While there have been conflicting reports about him being cleared by other doctors, there is still a red light by WWE from him doing what he does best – wrestle at a high impact level. The thought of Bryan getting in a ring and toning down his shtick would certainly be a huge blow to his persona and might eventually backfire on him and the company as fans want to see the “all or nothing” explosion Bryan brings to the ring every night.Should Bryan come back to WWE, more importantly, Raw, what would his role be? Here are a few thoughts on how Bryan could be effectively used.

#3 WrestleMania 32 Special guest referee

Remember this?

I think WWE wanted Dave Batista to become involved in WrestleMania 32 in some capacity like this. Batista refused the olive branch.

Shawn Michaels is rumored to have been offered the same position. The offer could be extended to Bryan, which could also play into the main event match at WrestleMania 32, and lead to Reigns winning the WWE World Title and finally getting over with the crowd.

Since there is still a storyline with Bryan and The Authority, what better way to make sure the title changes hands? This could also lead to Bryan’s continued involvement in the heavyweight title picture and a relationship between him and Reigns.

#2 Advisor to Roman Reigns

A new brother?

Or some other WWE Superstar. Think back to Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair or Rick Rude and Degeneration X. There has to be some way Bryan gets involved in a storyline. He would be a solid outside-the-ring advisor.

I would love to see Reigns turn heel and side with Triple H, but that pipe dream is done and gone for now. Bryan could also become the mentor for Sami Zayn or another NXT upstart.

This keeps Bryan on television as much as possible and still immensely popular with the fans in the arenas and those who watch WWE Network.

#1 General Manager of Raw

A feud with the Authority would be brilliant

Although I personally hate the way WWE has used this term of late, it makes sense to have Bryan in some capacity of Authority. The only issue with this comes from how he assumes this role. Since McMahon and Triple H are a power couple, the authority given to Bryan has to come from some other source.

Linda McMahon is not involved in storylines. Shane McMahon hasn’t been with the company. Stephanie is the third part of the power trip. It would have to be a mandate from the Board of Directors or some other way for this to happen. It would be another way for Bryan to stick it to The Authority to keep the storyline warm.
