5 active WWE Superstars that were suspended

Sin Cara suffered a suspension in 2011

Brock was indefinitely suspended for attacking a cameraman on RAWWhen you represent a company like WWE, you are expected to maintain a certain level of respect and professionalism. And to reinforce that idea, WWE has suspended many superstars over the years for varying reasons and lengths of time.Let us have a look at the 5 biggest superstars currently active on the roster, who were suspended at least once:

#5 Sin Cara

Sin Cara suffered a suspension in 2011

The high-flying Mexican and one-half of the Lucha Dragons, Sin Cara was suspended by WWE in 2011.

The company cited violation of the WWE wellness policy as the reason, not unlike many other suspension cases. Sin Cara had tested positive for injecting a drug that supposedly helped him to enhance his performance in the ring.

This does indeed come under professional misconduct, but I would say Sin Cara escaped a bigger punishment compared to what other sports regulatory bodies are imposing for players testing positive for drugs.

#4 Titus ONeil

The most recent victim to suffer the wrath of the WWE

After Daniel Bryan's retirement speech, the entire locker room along with Vince McMahon, Triple H and Stephanie came out to celebrate his career, which gave him a memorable farewell.

It was during the concluding moments of the segment that Titus got a little cute, grabbing Vince by the hand and pulled him towards him. This move irritated Vince, and he suspended Titus immediately for 90 days, citing professional misconduct as the reason.

Vince later drew a lot of flak for his decision and people event commented that this suspension was race-driven and not due to Titus’ behaviour. Titus, however, admitted his mistake and eventually the suspension was reduced to 60 days.

#3 Chris Jericho

Y2J had some bad memories in 2012

Chris Jericho has been a come-and-go guy for WWE in recent years. It was in 2012 that Jericho suffered a 30-day suspension from the WWE, and the reason was serious – the desecration of the Brazilian flag at the WWE live event in Sao Paulo on May 24, 2012.

This went down during a match between Jericho and CM Punk, who was proudly waving the flag in the ring. Jericho took the flag away, crumpled it up and kicked it out of the ring ... and that's when police stepped in and put a stop to the event.

Jericho made his comeback immediately after the suspension, on the June 25th episode of RAW. He has always been a fan favourite in the WWE but it is clear that WWE excuses no one when the company’s brand name is at stake.

#2 Dolph Ziggler

The ‘Show Off’ also tested positive for drug intake in 2008

Dolph Ziggler, the ‘Show Off’, faced a 30-day suspension in 2008 for violating the wellness policy of the WWE. This was once again a case of drug intake and testing positive for the same. Here is what Dolph had to say about his suspension:

“That was a worst case scenario. Be careful what you get into and who you are associated with. It can easily be taken away. I had a month to think it over. I said I won’t make that mistake again.”

#1 Randy Orton

Even WWE’s favourite bad boy Randy suffered a suspension

Suspension is a not a new word for Orton. During his career in WWE, he has been suspended on more than one occasion for his actions.

His first suspension was in April 2006, when he was caught rolling a marijuana joint backstage at a SmackDown taping. The WWE report back then said that Randy was suspended for 60 days due to unprofessional conduct.

Shortly after his return, Orton was once again suspended – in August 2006 – for a violation of the wellness policy.

In 2012, Randy was suspended for 60 days due to a second violation of the wellness policy (which obviously means testing positive in a drug test).
