5 footballers who should not be sold this summer

Paul Pogba is turning into a great next to Andrea Pirlo

The worlds most expensive player could depart the Bernabeu this summerIts that time of year when the rumour mill hits overdrive and theres plenty of speculation about who will be moving where this summer.Whilst theres a whole host of players who would benefit from big summer moves, dozens of others are best suited staying put even if thats only to prove their worth. Here are five candidates we believe should stay at their current clubs for at least one more term:

#1 Paul Pogba (Juventus)

Paul Pogba is turning into a great next to Andrea Pirlo

Could Paul Pogba be the first £100 million transfer? That’s the question on everybody’s lips right now and if the speculation is to be believed then that answer might be answered with an emphatic yes this summer.

Whether it’s Spain or England, there is no doubt that Pogba has the potential to become a marquee player. However, at the age of 22, the Frenchman is in no rush to seek a move away from Italy – especially at a club where he is winning domestic trophies for fun whilst also gaining vital Champions League experience.

Juventus’ slim chances of lifting Europe’s elite prize might be enough to tempt him away from Serie A but that might be to the detriment of his continued progressions. However, Pogba couldn’t ask for a better midfield partner than Andrea Pirlo and the Regista’s influence could help him become the greatest midfielder on earth.

Another year in Italy could be key.

#2 Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)

Bale’s love has been tested in recent weeks

It’s no secret that football fans have a tendency for fickleness, but the manner in which Real Madrid’s supporters are hounding Gareth Bale takes it to a new level.

Just 10 months ago, just weeks after destroying Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, the Welsh wizard was netting the La Decima clinching winner against rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final. That seems to count for nothing right now as the Madridistas bay for Bale’s blood.

A return to the Premier League has been sounded by various sources, with Manchester United appearing the most likely destination. However, there is no doubt that the 25-year-old has plenty still to offer at the Bernabeu.

#3 Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)

Angel Di Maria cost Manchester United a record 59.7 million

The Red Devils nation rejoiced last summer as Louis van Gaal captured the services of Angel Di Maria from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Less than one season into a five-year deal, though, British record signing appears to be ready to make his swift exit.

Manchester United fans have been patient with the attacking midfielder and many believe he still has a bright future at Old Trafford. However, despite a promising start to life in England, it appears as though club and player are ready to cut their losses.

Should Di Maria stay and find his best position then there is no reason he cant go on to become an integral part of the Manchester United revival. Unfortunately, the chances of him starting next season at the club seem increasingly slim.

#4 Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

Raheem Sterling could be set for the Anfield exit

Is there a more exciting youngster in the Premier League than Liverpools Raheem Sterling right now? Probably not, and for that reason alone the young England star should reject a potential summer move to continue his development at Anfield.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has openly voiced his desire to keep Sterling at the club and the winger could become an even more important role next season as influential skipper Steven Gerrard departs for MLS.

Sadly, Sterlings future could lie away from Anfield. England fans will be praying that it wont disrupt his progress.

#5 Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg)

Bruyne struggled at Chelsea before shining at Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has enjoyed a sensational season since trading Stamford Bridge for the Volkswagon Arena, which has naturally garnered widespread praise from a whole host of suitors.

As it stands, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich look favourites for the 23-year-old long-term signature. However, despite the Belgians versatility, its hard to pinpoint where he would fit in Pep Guardiolas immediate plans other than on the peripherals.

With youth on his side, De Bruyne can afford to master his skill at Wolfsburg before making the inevitable switch to the Allian Arena. The ambitious No.14 might be tempted this summer, but hopefully will take heed from the lessons learnt at Chelsea.
