5 Matches from Attitude Era that we would love to see at Extreme Rules

Its not every day in the PG that you see the WWE go Extreme. The amount of stipulation matches has been toned down ever since WWE went PG and its only one occasion like Extreme Rules where we get to see some good old violence unfold in between the ropes.Till now, we only know that a steel cage match is going to happen at Extreme Rules while the other matches are just floating in the air. After botching certain things at WrestleMania, the fans would be more critical if WWE screws up at Extreme Rules. One way to keep them silent would be to bring back some matches that they used to love back in the Attitude Era.Some nostalgia and exciting stipulation has always done the job for WWE and this time wont be any different if they plan to do so.So lets take a look at some of the matches that we would love to see at Extreme Rules.

#5 Bra and panties match

Well that ain’t PG, but we are talking about Attitude Era. in Attitude Era we used to have a strip match every now and then even on weekly shows.

But it soon ran dry as we went far and deep into PG. the eye candy was synonyms with the era and WWE wouldn’t hurt itself if they put up one of these matches at Extreme Rules. At the moment, Paige has a match against Tamina which need not be altered.

The other option is making Emma and Layla fight it in a match. WWE apparently is not making use of the skills that Emma has inside the ring, so at least they could let her raise the temperature a bit.

If that doesn’t materialize, a scramble match among the Total Divas to determine the new No.1 contender would also work.

#4 Iron Man Match

It may not be that extreme but the Iron match is something which pushes the wrestlers to their limits. Throughout the history, there has been some great iron man matches in WWE and the last one was between Randy Orton and John Cena which was five years ago.

WWE need not make it a 60 minute rally like previous times as they could even put up one in 15 or 30 minutes to meet the schedule.

The ideal contestants to fight it out would be Cesaro and Jack Swagger. The two are obviously heading towards a match at the pay-per-view and making it an iron man match only adds more dimensions.

Cesaro and Swagger fighting it out to get more falls is going to be something special for sure and it will be a great way to put both of them over with the fans.

#3 Table to fall match

This is certainly a match that wouldn’t go against the PG ethics. The objective of this match is to pin or make your opponent submit, but you can only do that if you put him once through the table.

And if he kicks out or rope breaks, then you have to put him through another table to pin him again.

The match could be used well in Extreme Rules for the Intercontinental title match that is being set up. Big E would be in more jeopardy in a stipulation match rather than a regular match which removes the chances of a predictable ending.

A lot of tables will be broken at Extreme Rules to the delight of the fans as well making this one an ideal addition for the match card.

#2 TLC Triple Threat Tag Team match

There won’t be any fan out there who wouldn’t know about the great triple threat TLC tag team matches that WWE put up in the Attitude Era.

The Hardy Boys, Dudleys and Edge and Christian gave a lot of memories worth keeping and kept the bar high for anything which was to follow. WWE didn’t try to replicate the success they had with those three teams but this might be a good time to take the chances.

They could easily set up the Usos, Rhodes Brothers and Rybaxel in a match for the title. we all know how Usos and Cody Rhodes flies while the others bring in the power game.

It’s surely going to be a match that will give the tag titles some more push than it already has.

#1 Wargames

Technically speaking this might not be a match from WWE, but it is something that the fans have been asking for a long time.

The war games was main stay of WCW till the start of Attitude Era and but it deserves to be on the list since it represents almost everything that Attitude Era was about.

Also called the match beyond, War games happens between two teams who are locked inside a big cage having two rings. It starts off with one member of a team at a time and other members gets added just like the Elimination Chamber match.

And the match ends when a member of the team is knocked out, submitted or pinned. It was a match that pushed the wrestlers and WWE has been putting it on hold saying it is too violent.

However, they could tone down things a bit and lock Shield and Evolution inside the cage. Then they could just sit back and scream out with joy like the whole WWE Universe would do.
