5 replacements for John Cena as the face of WWE

SummerSlam made WWE’s intentions clear about how they want to push the product forward. The Network Era might be all set to witness a big dethroning ceremony as John Cena’s days as the top face of the company looks to be under a countdown. The Cenation leader is physically torn apart and might be forced to hang up his boot even if he doesn’t want to. At the same time the polarizing reaction that he gets from the crowd isn’t doing anything good for him as well.Replacing Cena wouldn’t be an easy job for anyone even if it is Vince McMahon. He has been the backbone of WWE for more than a decade now and here is a look at some of the names that could step into the void that Cena would leave.

#5 Seth Rollins

Rollins knows how it’s like to represent a promotion. He was the face of Ring of Honor while he was having a face run there and wouldn’t crumble when the limelight is shining bright on him.

The recent main event performance that Rollins has given underlines these arguments. He was having a good run while the Shield were face and when the faction broke up; Rollins was projected as the top heel apart from the Authority.

He achieved that feet by overcoming the lights of Randy Orton, which is a fact that deserves some highlighting.

The versatility that Rollins has would give him no trouble during a face run which makes him a good candidate to replace Cena.

#4 Brock Lesnar

Lesnar’s destruction of Cena at SummerSlam was an indication about this idea already taking life in the backstage. WWE trusting Lesnar with the title even if he won’t be available regularly was the biggest hint that was dropped about the changing landscape.

He is the next best thing that WWE has in their roster after Cena and to be frank, Lesnar might be even a bigger star than the Cenation leader.

His mainstream popularity is nothing less than Cena and if exposed regularly to the fans, Lesnar could be over with the WWE Universe as well.

The current title reigns could be the foundation of a face turn for the Beast who has been hanging around the heel block for quite long.

#3 Daniel Bryan

There were comparisons drawn between the popularity of Bryan and Cena during the road to WrestleMania. The big WrestleMania moment of Bryan was supposed to ease up his path to the top but his body couldn’t hang in there.

The hard hitting in ring style that Bryan had back from his Indy days weren’t tone down a lot by the WWE and this hurt them bad just like what happened with Kurt Angle.

Bryan’s condition is getting worse as each day pass by but there is still a glimmer of hope about his return being soon.

His return would be a launching pad for the company to propel Bryan back into the top and despite being not as neat and tidy as Cena is.

#2 Roman Reigns

No one had the idea of Reigns being the next John Cena during the initial days of the Shield but as the time went by, Reigns started to garner more attention.

He turned into the fulcrum of the group. The looks and the flashiness soon won over the fans and WWE started giving him the move set which were supposed to take him to places. Along with a heavy push, Reigns just flourished.

The internet is simply sky high about Reigns getting a title shot or main eventing WrestleMania.

There are some shortcomings that he should overcome if he is to reach that heights but with some time in his pocket, Reigns could be ‘the’ one to fill Cena’s void.

#1 Dean Ambrose

This list might be filled with former Shield members, but Ambrose has shown signs of being the one who could survive the business on a longer run.

Ambrose is simply one of the best talkers that WWE has at their disposal now. After the Shield broke up, he also managed to propel himself into the Daniel Bryan like position where the fans simply loved to see him.

The lunatic character might not be something that he should be stuck with if he gets a big push but Ambrose will surely be able to fit in.

Ambrose might not be the same mould as Cena but with time, the business also changes which makes wrestlers like Ambrose the new heroes.
