5 signs that 'the Undertaker Streak' was always coming to an end at WrestleMania XXX

Wrestling business has been on a roller-coaster ride ever since its inception and if something stuck around with consistency for a very long time in between all the chaos it had to be Undertakers WrestleMania streak.Taker went on a streak which spanned more than two decades and it was even older than the new Divas champion to be precise. And no one was expecting WWE to end that legacy in just three seconds at this years WrestleMania. The reason why we didnt see it coming was we never assumed that a part-timer like Brock Lesnar could do the unthinkable. What we wanted was an upcoming talent that wouldve benefited from the streak ending. However, when you look at it closely, the WWE gave us some hints throughout the WrestleMania season that we were bound to see Taker fall. So here is a look at those details we simply ignored.

#5 The Lack of Stipulations

The streak might be a big enough match which don’t need any stipulations to make it large. But looking back in its recent history, we’ve had Hell in a Cell matches, no DQ matches, Casket matches and even matches with his opponent’s career on the line.

And this year WWE made it simple with Just a plane regular match that would end in submission or pin fall.

Why?

Well they didn’t want the streak to end with Taker getting trapped in a casket, they didn’t want the streak to end with Taker not answering the ten count, they wanted it to end it the way it started.

With One, Two and Three.

#4 Takers physique

From the moment Taker made his return this year, he wasn’t in a great shape physically. His body looked like it went through great physical trauma and it was certainly in no condition to be stitched back for another year.

In the buildup also WWE used him sporadically and toned down the physical interaction which further hinted that Taker was preserved for one last match.

And when the match started, the way they carried Taker would’ve made everyone realize that we were going to witness history being made.

After the match, Taker was taken to the hospital due to his battering body and it was the right time to call it a day in the end after all.

#3 Eat, Sleep, Conquer, Repeat

Eating, sleeping and repeating made a lot of sense when it came to Brock Lesnar. But what was there for him to conquer?

This tag line was used fresh when he returned to WWE recently and the only thing conquered before locking horns with Taker was Big Show.

So was the WWE stupid enough to give Lesnar something like that so that he could wrestle a big guy who lost all his charm? Don’t think so.

Apart from the World title, the only thing that Lesnar had to conquer in WWE was the streak and Heyman repeatedly was high on this mantra throughout the buildup which was actually a spoiler that Lesnar was actually going to conquer the biggest mountain in professional wrestling.

#2 The Silent Anniversary

The WWE usually loves to play with numbers; they acknowledge the anniversaries and celebrate almost all of them. But this year they played the cards a bit differently.

WrestleMania is considered as the biggest event in the business and it getting to the 30 year mark is something bigger, but it was surprising why WWE didn’t even mention this during the buildup to the show.

After the Streak was broken, it made all the sense in the world. WWE clearly didn’t want to make everyone realize that the thirtieth anniversary edition was so big that the streak might come to an end.

Fans were fooled into believing that the reason why WWE didn’t mention about the milestone was because nothing significant was going to happen.

But apparently something happened and we all saw our jaws drop to the floor.

#1 Making Lesnar look weak

Ever since Lesnar returned to WWE after his time in MMA, he has been booked as a beast who simply dominates each and everything which was thrown at him. He took out the lights of Triple H, John Cena, Big Show, CM Punk and Shawn Michaels with ease but was made to look inferior by an old man.

Taker may have that aura, but the current fans were well aware that he was in no condition to dominate and make Lesnar run away.

WWE changing their strategy and making look Lesnar weak was the biggest sign that the streak was ending because it removed the predictability element from the picture.

Undertaker going into the match with the upper hand against Lesnar made everyone believe that it would be 22-0 once WrestleMania concludes as no one expected a cowardly opponent to make it one on the other side.

Though the buildup was criticized by everyone (including me), it all came down to that one point when the crowd went all silent to realize that it finally was the end of an era.
