Happy Birthday Maryse!Maryse Mizanin celebrates her 32nd birthday on January 21st. Even though she has not been in a WWE ring for over two years, she does retain her fair share of fans. Also, every time we see the Miz on TV, we wonder how she can remain married to him after all these years – yup, Maryse and the Miz married in 2013 after a long term relationship. Many of the fans might not be aware of the above fact. It is no surprise as the real life angle was never played out on TV. This list takes a look at another five things that the regular pro wrestling fan might not know about the former Maryse Ouellet.

#1 She is a former beauty pageant winner

Marys's entry into the modeling industry began in 2003 when she won the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada beauty pageant in 2003. Hawaiian Tropic is a suntan lotion brand and the company had been conducting bikini competitions from 1984.

Maryse’s modelling career took off after the win and she would finish runner up at the International finals of Miss Hawaiian Tropic 2004. The feat helped her gain a place in WWE’s 2006 Diva Search competition.

#2 Her first angle was with Deuce and Domino

Remember the goofy tag team of Deuce and Domino? Maryse made her SmackDown debut the night they dumped their long-standing valet Cherry. That name too doesn’t ring a bell?Anyways, it took place in 2008 when the tag team division was at an all time low – so you are forgiven!

The former tag team champions would replace Cherry with Maryse and the French Canadian Diva’s WWE stint would begin by being on the receiving end of a Cherry slap. She would also go on to lose her first match on SmackDown to Cherry as well.

A very inauspicious debut indeed!!!

#3 She was the longest reigning Divas Champion before AJ Lee

Before AJ Lee and later Nikki Bella started their year-long reigns with the WWE Divas title, it was Maryse who brought prestige to the title with a 216-day run in 2009.She successfully defended her title over the likes over Michelle McCool, Maria, Gail Kim and Kelly Kelly during that period.

Maryse was also the first Diva to win the Divas title twice after the WWE introduced the belt in 2008.

Maryse’s first tryst with the title came on Smackdown when she beat McCool to win the gold with Maria as the special guest referee. She would hold it for over seven months before dropping it to Mickie James.

Her second title run would start by her winning a Divas title tournament beating Gail Kim in the final. She would lose the title to Eve Torres on an episode of Raw a few months later.Despite her being only the second recipient of the title, Maryse’s record stood for nearly five years till it was bettered by AJ in 2013.

#4 She became a realtor after her stint with the WWE and also has a clothing line

After her release from the WWE in 2013, Maryse studied a year to earn her realtor’s license and now works as a realtor in Los Angeles,

Another one of Maryse’s interests is clothing. She had been designing makeup products from high school and her post-WWE career saw her announce her own line of clothing and jewelry called ‘The House of Maryse’.

If she is designing all those awful clothes that the Miz wears to Raw, she might not have much of a future in this line of work!!!

#5 She obtained a restraining order against a 61-year-old stalker

In 2011, Maryse began receiving letters and telephone calls from a crazed fan named Lee Silber. She is reported to have received more than 50 voice mails from the deranged fan which were “extremely disturbing and delusional”.

Maryse had to beef up her personal security and also approached a judge for protection against Silber whom she claimed “needs to either be in a psychiatric hospital or jail”.The judge granted Maryse a permanent restraining order against Silber in August 2011.
