5 ways how WWE should revamp Randy Orton after the failed heel gimmick

Over the past decade, Randy Orton has been one of the franchise players of WWE circling around the main event scene and top titles. However, Ortons character saw a great dip in recent times when the fans decided to label him as the most boring wrestler that WWE had to offer. For someone who have achieved a lot in his career, the tag felt more than unfair and Orton was someone who got in between the creatives bad decision. For those who are concluding that Orton has nothing more to the company, he is someone who could break those expectations. All he needs is some new direction and a refresh button and the post WrestleMania period will be the best place to pull that off.So here is a look at the ways in which WWE could breathe back the life into Orton.

#5 Have him take a break

While WWE cashes in on the part time players when it comes to WrestleMania season, what they don’t acknowledge most of the times is the work that they’re regular wrestler’s puts in.

And Orton belongs to the latter category and deserves recognition despite having the fans against him. He has been giving great matches with a variety of opponents and it would only sound fair to give him a break.

Taking Orton off the television will let the fans loose on his current gimmick and it will set the stage for him to return with a big impact. Absence of Orton could also leave the space open for other midcarders to rise as well making sure that Orton has a good opponent when he finally makes his big return.

#4 Get Ric Flair as his manager

One of the main problems that Orton has been facing as a heel was the repetition of his promos. He sounds same in whatever he talks about and there isn’t any factor of freshness in the whole thing.

So a way to overcome this would be to align Orton with a great microphone worker who could be his manager. Now, the top manager in the company might be Paul Heyman, but a regular guy like Orton having an overpowering Heyman by his side wouldn’t be a great idea.

The best candidate for the job thus would be Ric Flair. Orton and Flair have some great history and chemistry between them and the dirtiest player in the game could give a great boost to Orton’s heel run. He could flourish under Flair’s management and could establish himself as the top heel again.

#3 Remove Orton from the title scene

Another thing which felt reparative about Orton’s heel run was him being involved with the title too often.

He is ever present in the title scene since SummerSlam and once he drops the title at WrestleMania he could move on to other things than going back after the title

Orton could spark a feud with the newly turned Shield or wrestlers like Dolph Ziggler and Big E which will put them over and give Orton a fresh feeling. He would then be re inserted back into the title scene after a great deal of time making him look like a worthy contender rather than a guy who got there because of his family.

The mid carders will benefit great from this as they would have a big name alongside them to lock horns with every now and then.

#2 Make him a stable leader

Throughout his career Orton has found a great deal of success when associating himself with stables be it Evolution or Legacy.

So a way to give him some new direction will definetly be building up a new stable with him as the leader. From what we saw at Legacy Orton could carry the stable well as the leader and also put over any one who is associated with him.

The candidates who could be added to the faction are many but the NXT prospects like Alexandre Rusev or Bo Dallas are the front runners. Then there are some big names like Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler who are also in need of something.

Adding a diva like AJ Lee or Paige into the mix will make the stable a great one and Orton could rule WWE with his warriors.

#1 Turn him face

The last time Orton was having a face turn, the fans were begging WWE to turn him heel. The reason why this happened was because WWE didn’t have a big heel to show back then.

But now, they have the Wyatt Family, Brock Lesnar, Batista, Triple H, Kane and many more who could take over any face in the business. Turning Orton face will open up all these possibilities which could make Orton relevant again.

Since Bray Wyatt will be fresh from his feud with Cena, he could go on taking on the next big name in the company in the form of Orton. It will be great to see Orton getting a credible heel for his face run as well.

On the other hand, Orton could go against Lesnar which will certainly be a battle to watch. Triple H also has great chemistry with the Viper which could serve as another showdown between the two.
