According to sources, Yuvraj singh and Hazel Keech were dating for a long time. The couple were spotted together a number of times, be it at Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra’s wedding or at a temple along with Yuvi’s mother Shabnam Singh. A hint of their Diwali engagement was given on twitter when the left-handed batsman and teammate Harbhajan Singh were engaged in a friendly banter. Bhajji had tweeted, “@YUVSTRONG12 u should also come in a line and play straight now. No cut pull”. To this Yuvi had replied, “yes mr @harbhajan_singh from Diwali onwards I'm going to play straight see u Tom night”.

Yuvraj who will be turning 34 next month was waiting for the right girl and most importantly somene who does not understand cricket. Shabnam told ABP, “It’s not that Yuvi didn’t want to marry, but he’d consistently said that he wouldn’t till he got the feeling within that he’d met the right girl…. Yuvi had reached a stage where he felt he needed a partner for life. Most important, he found a girl who wasn’t at all interested in cricket.”

Reports of Yuvraj and Hazel’s engagement this year followed by a February 2016 wedding were doing the rounds. The Sixer King replied to such news in a fun way on his twitter account. On November 4 he posted, “So now my dear media has decided the venue and month of my marriage. Can you also tell me the dates so I can get ready well in time!” However, the speculations about their engagement turned out to be right. Before their engagement they took the blessings of Sant Ram Singhji Ganduan Wale at Dufera Sahib near Fatehgarh Sahib.

In an interview Shabnam Singh told ABP that though her son had informed her beforehand about the Bali engagement, it was actually a surprise for Hazel. The groom’s mother said, “I was in the know, yes. In fact, Yuvi told me before leaving, late last week, that he’d be getting engaged to Hazel. Yuvi didn’t tell her (Hazel) and was wanting to surprise her. That’s what he did.” Well, the cricketer not only surprised his fiancé but fans too.

DNA had reported about the star couple’s engagement in a private ceremony at Bali. Yuvraj confirmed this news on November 15 by tweeting, “Yes I am engaged cause i found a friend for life in @hazelkeech as mom says a reflection of her .” Yuvi’s mom approves her son’s choice. Talking about Hazel, Shabnam had told ABP, “She’s very down to earth and straightforward. Hazel’s an upright girl.”

Hazel also took to twitter to celebrate the new develeopment in her life. She posted the above picture with a caption that said, “Yes, its true, im getting married to @YUVSTRONG12 Im so thankful to have found such an amazing person #shazam.” Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh feels the duo’s marriage will bring back Yuvraj to Team India. According to a report by India Today, he said, “I was introduced to her (Hazel) by Yuvraj and she is a very nice girl. I am confident that marrying her will change his fortunes and he will return to the national squad.” Well, only time can tell if that actually happens.
