Less than a month ago, I speculated the same thing. https://www.sportskeeda.com/slideshow/wwe-royal-rumble-2015-top-5-dark-horses?imgid=39320But the return of Bryan has changed the landscape a bit.Next Sunday, the first of the Big Four PPVs in WWE history will make its way. The USP of the event is the eponymous Royal Rumble match. 30 men will enter the Rumble. There will be a few surprise entrants. Few awe-striking moves. Few former rivalries kicked off. And few new rivalries take shape. But there will just be one winner. While Roman Reigns was a huge favorite moving forward, not specifically by fans but by the management given the rising monster push, the return of the biggest babyface in the industry right now has shifted the tide a bit. Daniel Bryan looks like a firm roadblock in front of Reigns.Yet, these speculations raise a lot of discussion, and this also gives rise to a space where someone other than these two winning will cause. A space of pure, pleasant surprise. Now, here are 3 dark horses who could take the cake and eat it at Royal Rumble.

#3 Randy Orton

The only thing that keeps him from actually convincingly winning the Rumble is the fact that he’s Randy Orton - a marquee guy, a former champion and a former Rumble winner.

Storyline-wise, this sets up the storyline between Rollins, The Authority and Orton. Orton might as well fight for the title against Rollins. There is a convincing, logical story there and this could be the moment where Rollins is eventually set up as the major heel and young superstar of the future.

Also, a meet-up between Lesnar and him is also hugely awaited. The only outcome nobody wants to see is Cena winning the title and him and Orton going against each other for the millionth time. Too Overrated a feud, that has been.

Orton’s return is ugely awaited given that he left the Universe two of the geatest promos and performance of his career in a matter of two weeks.

#2 Dolph Ziggler

Here’s the thing, there are many, many superstars more popular than Reigns at this point.

Ziggler’s popularity is second to only Daniel Bryan’s. He will be a massive favorite heading to the Rumble. And the way he’s been booked, an early elimination will only be a major disappointment. He is an important part of the storyline with The Authority. He’s sure to make an impact. His elevated status makes winning the Rumble an unpredictable, yet very much deserving affair.

There is no reason not to belive that he won’t put up a show-stealing performance. Getting rid of him is going to be a major taskat the Rumble.

#1 Dean Ambrose

He is undeniably one of the most popular stars on the roster. While Daniel Bryan is a babyface with legit underdog characteristics as his gimmick, Ambrose’s appeal comes from his nonchalance, his chutzpah, when faced with difficulties. Dean Ambrose is different from the rest of the pack that is the main roster. He is the closest to come to being an anti-hero. He is recognized, righfully, as an outlaw.

He is doing great with whatever little material he’s given. He hasn’t had the best win-loss record. He’s been used to put Wyatt over. He has been selling continuing injuries and yet appearing gutsy in the process.

The management does see his appeal, in some way.he’s given great amount of screentime. He’s the only young star who’s main evented two PPVs as a singles’ performer.

Maybe, there is something bigger set up for him in the future. And maybe that is winning the Royal Rumble.
