8 things we learnt from the Jericho/Stephanie podcast

Following the success of the Austin podcasts with Vince McMahon and Triple H, WWE decided to freshen things up by having Chris Jericho bring his podcast to the WWE Network. His second guest for the special edition of his podcast was the one and only Stephanie McMahon. The interview/podcast revealed a lot of interesting information about Stephanie, Vince, Triple H and her family.Let’s take a look now at 8 interesting things we discovered from the Chris Jericho/Stephanie McMahon podcast.

#1 Started at 15 years old in WWE

Stephanie McMahon has been an integral part of WWE for many years now especially over the last few years where she has truly flourished as an amazing heel.

However during the Jericho podcast she revealed her first ‘job’ at WWE began when she was only 15 years old. She started out answering phones at WWE headquarters and from there, went on to working in various other departments.

Her parents apparently wanted her to have a job every summer so she could learn the value of a dollar.

#2 Favourite moment

Stephanie also discussed her favourite moment ever in her long career with WWE. She revealed that her favourite moment was her match at last year’s Summerslam against Brie Bella.

That bout was Stephanie’s first official in ring match in over 11 years and she most certainly impressed critics with a very solid performance. Steph defeated Brie with a pedigree thanks to an interference from Brie’s twin sister Nikki.

Their match last year was fairly well received so it will be interesting to see if she decides to step back in the ring again. A feud (and match) with AJ Lee would have been phenomenal but unfortunately that won’t happen.

#3 Vince-ess

Jericho speaks about how Steph appears just like Vince on television. Steph states that her brother Shane McMahon calls her ‘Vince-ess’ due to their similarities. Stephanie also notes that she's unaware that she emulates him but acknowledges she watched him all her life and there's no one better.

She also speaks further about her father, stating that Vince didn't grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth and while he's given her all of her opportunities, he still wants her to fight for it every day and that's what she does.

#4 Steph/Hunter relationship

Steph says Vince initially forbid her to date wrestlers because it was bad for business but then she feels Vince threw her together with Triple H.

She talks about how once they started dating, Vince told them they couldn't date but then they got together about a year later and obviously it all worked out. She states that Triple H suffered backlash from them being together.

Steph also says that her and Triple H are not around each other that much as they travel to different WWE events besides RAW and then have different roles in the office.

#5 Oldest daughter wants to wrestle

Stephanie also revealed that her oldest daughter (Aurora Rose Levesque) has intentions of becoming a professional wrestler.

Aurora is very interested in the entire business, has trained with Natalya and is reportedly a natural heel like her mother. Apparently she has even written a book about wanting to become a pro wrestler.

It will be interesting to see how her daughter develops if she does decide to follow a career in pro wrestling. One would assume if she does that she would be guaranteed a place in WWE and hopefully would be able to flourish as a heel just like her mother has in recent times.

#6 Proud of AJ\'s twitter comment

Jericho also brings up when AJ Lee called her out over equality on Twitter. Jericho noted that Steph responded diplomatically but asked if she was actually somewhat pissed off. Stephanie says it didn't piss her off as much but she had to respond diplomatically.

Steph believes the hashtag started at the same time as AJ called her out and AJ was responding to her tweet about Patricia Arquette but AJ's response wasn't really commenting on the hashtag campaign.

Ultimately Stephanie was proud that AJ Lee was speaking out and standing up for her fellow divas.

#7 Pushing to give Divas a chance

Furthermore, Steph is very much supportive of the ‘Give Divas a Chance’ movements and has herself been pushing to increase the importance of the divas division.

She also believes we could see Divas main event RAW again but it's got to be the right story and they've got to make it happen. They both praise the NXT Divas and hopes it transitions to the main roster.

Stephanie says there’s no reason why the Divas had little ring time so hopefully we begin to see more changes in the right direction for the divas division.

#8 No plans for Rousey

Rumours arose after Wrestlemania 31 that Rousey may be scheduled for a match with Stephanie McMahon but just recently Dana White stated that Rousey’s WWE appearance was a one off thing. Unfortunately this podcast confirmed that earlier plans may now be in doubt.

Jericho asked whether we might see more of the Ronda Rousey in a WWE setting again and Steph simply replied "I don't know."

She noted that there is nothing in the works as of now and that the Wrestlemania 31 segment was just a moment not a setup for something else. However she did also note that, "Never say never."

Hopefully WWE will be able to bring back Ronda Rousey for a future appearance but it is very much in doubt at this stage.
