12 best Academy Awards 2014 in football

What a year it was! Some really wonderful team performances and brilliant goals are what we crave for, and we got it in plenty. The old time football banter never stopped around the year as well thanks to pundits like Gary Neville and Jamie Carraghar. Neither the mind games between the managers stopped at any point during the season so far. We bring you the best of last year, here are the Academy awards in football for 2014:

#1 Best Costume Design Kit - AS Roma Home Kit

Due to tussle with their sponsors, AS Roma didn’t play with any sponsors on their kit. They introduced a “3D” version of their crest on their plain jersey.

On matchdays, they put their charity organization “Roma Cares”. Now that calls for respect.

Winner for the Best Kit award - AS Roma

#2 Best Costume and Hair Style - Mario Balotelli and El Shaarawy

Who can be better than these two duo from AC Milan? The award was a tie and we are sure most of the fans would agree with our choice.

WINNER for the Best Costume and Hair style award: Mario Balotelli and El Shaarawy

#3 Best Visual Effects - Ashley Young

We think we don't have to explain ourselves here. He had a tough competition from Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Neymar and others, but Young making more news diving than creating chances for United. He was our winner.

WINNER for the Best Visual Effects award: Ashley Young.

#4 Best Animated Feature - Phil Jones

Nothing more animated than Phil Jones's faces - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. All in one. We have a unanimous winner.

WINNER for the Best Animated Feature award: Phil Jones.

#5 Best Actor Player in a Supporting Assisting Role - Mesut Ozil

With a terrific season with Real Madrid earlier and then a good first half with Arsenal - Mesut Ozil is our winner popular.

WINNER for the Best Player in an Assisting Role award: Mesut Ozil

#6 Best Club - Bayern Munich

With 5 trophies in the last year, Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich are he undisputed winner of this category. They won the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and DFB-Pokal.

WINNER for the Best Club award: Bayern Munich.

#7 Best Screenplay Team Goal - Jack Wilshere

A series of 1-2 passes from the Arsenal players leading to this beautiful goal. Winner of the best screenplay.. or the best script.

WINNER for the Best Team Goal award: Jack Wilshere for Arsenal against Norwich.

#8 Best Cinematography Individual Goal - Luis Suarez

What more can we add for this half volley by Luis Suarez. One of the best goals from 2013. The fact that he scored 3 wonderful crafted goals in the same match. We think it deserved to win this category.

WINNER for the Best Individual Goal award: Luis Suarez for Liverpool against Norwich.

#9 Best Producer Owner - Vincent Tan

We had a torrid time trying to find a suitable winner for this category, but there were not any as compared to the entertainment(although negative) value from the Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan.

WINNER for the Best Owner (NOT) award: Vincent Tan.

#10 Best Actor Player - Cristiano Ronaldo

Now the big one. Best player was none other than Real Madrid and Portugal's talisman Cristiano Ronaldo with an amazing year throughout the year in 2013. He went on to win his second Ballon d'Or in the process.

He was our worthy winner!

WINNER for the Best Player award: Cristiano Ronaldo.

#11 Best Director Manager - Jupp Heynckes

Another biggie from the list. Best manager was rather easy to pick after we all know who went on to win a treble with Bayern Munich before leaving his legacy in the safe hands of Pep Guardiola.

WINNER for the Best Manager award: Josef "Jupp" Heynckes.

#12 Best Film Match - Sweden 2-3 Portugal

This will go down as one of the most memorable matches in recent history of football. The script was set as Portugal were leading 1-0 from the first leg. It was a do or die moment for both Sweden and Portugal. But after a see-saw game of football - all in the second half. It was our pick for the best match.

You can watch the highlights here
