ALS ice bucket challenge - Cricketers join the awareness campaign

What is the ice bucket challenge?In the latest internet awareness campaign, when challenged by someone whos already taken the challenge,aperson has to dump a bucket of ice on his head within 24 hoursfrom the time of the challenge, or else donate$100 to the ALSAssociation in the United States.The person accepting the challenge can nominatepeople of his choice to dare the ice. Many sportspersons havestarted to take up the challenge including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It is now the turn of the gentlemenof cricket to face the chill.

But considering how easily he moved away,were not convinced by that effort.

The leading run-getter across all formats for England dared all when he faced the ice bucket. The fascinating stroke maker could not bare the cold in the end and was seen shivering heavily after getting wet.

The pacer took up the challenge and nominated former Former England captain Michael Vaughan and the young Joe Root. The seamer was strong enough to try the bucket for the second time himself and was seen with a smile while naming his nominees, wishing them good luck.

The left-hander from West Indies accepted his opener Chris Gayle’s challenge and tried out the bucket. He even had a little laugh in naming his nominees before his turn. However, the Trinidadian was not able to bear the cold and was seen running away from the spot as Sunil Narine and Gayle himself were having a laugh about it.

The West Indian all-rounder was brave enough to face the chill after Darren Bravo’s challenge. The captain of the West Indies T20 side was screaming aloud as the cold water struck him.

The England international women’s cricketer tried out the ice bucket on the club’s challenge and was seen having a big laugh post the wash. The fast bowler not even make a slight sign of uneasiness during her turn.

The Karnataka batsman accepted the challenge from his Kolkata Knight Rider’s teammate Surya Kumar Yadav. The 28-year-old stood firm and successfully completed the task of going under not one, but, two buckets of ice water.

Sri Lankan designer and fashion icon Otara Gunewardene challenged the legendary duo of cricketers to take the ALS ice bucket challenge, duly accepted by them.

Jayawardene challenged Michael Clarke, Rahul Dravid and Angelo Mathews before the challenge while Sangakkara’s nominations were Virat Kohli, Dale Steyn and Adam Gilchrist.
