Sachin and Sourav batted together againWarne’s Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the Cricket All-Stars series as they thrashed Sachin’s Blasters by 57 runs at the Minute Maid Park in Houston. After being put into bat, Warriors posted a mammoth 262-5 thanks to notable contributions from every batsmen.Kumar Sangakkara led the charge with 70 off just 30 balls and was ably supported by Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting, who both got forties. Sachin’s side were never really in the game after that and were only able to reduce the margin of defeat thanks to a fantastic fifty by Shaun Pollock, who top-scored for the Blasters. Here are some of the best photographs from the game that took place in Houston.

#1 Teammates turn into rivals

For years, the sight of Matthew Hayden opening the batting and Glenn McGrath opening the bowling for Australia was such a delight. But this time, two former teammates were up against each other and the contest between the two was exhilarating.

Despite being hit for two sixes and a four in his first four balls to Hayden, it was the bowler who had the last laugh as he bowled the dangerous southpaw for 32.

#2 Foes turn into friends

After all the time spent trying to get Matthew Hayden out, Michael Vaughan was finally able to enjoy Hayden’s exploits from the other end as the pair opened the batting. They added 51 runs for the first wicket in 5.4 overs to get the Warriors off to the perfect start.

#3 Swann gets his man

Graeme Swann had the best economy rate of all Blasters bowlers and his 8-ball cameo with the bat yielded 22 runs but surely his favourite memory from the day would have been dismissing former England captain Michael Vaughan.

#4 Sangakkara on song

There are few better sights in cricket than when Kumar Sangakkara is in full flow. Unfortunately for Sachin’s side, the southpaw brought his A-game to Houston as he creamed the ball to all corners of the ground. His 30-ball 70 included six fours and six sixes and showed that while he might be retired from international cricket, he still has plenty to give to the game.

#5 The return of that famous action

Not only did Lance Klusener hit a couple of lusty blows towards the end of the Blasters innings with the bat, he also picked up the dangerous duo of Sangakkara and Ponting in the same over. Showing that he can still do, what he used to do, while turning up for the Proteas at the turn of the millenium.

In the end, that mattered little as Warriors still scored in excess of 250 and won comfortably.

#6 Sachin left clueless

It is not often that Sachin Tendulkar is left wondering “what on earth is happening here” on a cricket pitch. But this was one such occasion as everything he tried on the field, failed and he was left baffled. There was nothing he could do as captain to stop the onslaught from the Warriors batsmen. Even when he came out to bat, he had no answer to Saqlain Mushtaq’s “teesra”.

#7 Ganguly\'s short stay

Everyone who had come to the stadium to see one of India’s finest captains of all-time weren’t left disappointed as Sourav Ganguly took to the field after missing the first game. But despite a trademark six over mid-off and a four down to third man, his stay was ultimately too short to make much of a difference to the final result.

#8 Lara disappoints again

After failing to pick a straight ball from Shane Warne in the first T20, all eyes were on Lara, to see if he could replicate the magic from his playing days. Although he tried his best, his innings wasn’t what was necessary as the Blasters were chasing a huge total.

#9 Akram\'s still got it

Sometimes stats don’t paint the complete picture. Wasim Akram’s figures in the second T20 don’t make for great reading. But the Pakistani pacer was deadly accurate with his yorkers and his decision to go around the wicket towards the end brought back memories of the 1992 World Cup.

#10 Minute Maid magic

Following the fanatical support they received from the fans in New York, cricketing legends once again received plenty of support from a fanatical crowd in Houston. While Pakistan may not host too many matches in their own country, their fans continue to support their players wherever they go.
