England vs India 2014 - 2nd Test: 5 personal milestones to be achieved at Lord's

The first Test match of the tour at Trent Bridge failed to produce a result after five full days of cricket. Apart from the unending debates over the pitch, team combination and even some controversy, there is so much to look forward to the second Test match at Lords that is about to get rolling on Thursday, July 17.Here arefive interesting featsthat areabout to be achieved, making this Test match, the one to watch out for.

#1 MS Dhoni - 1000 runs vs England

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently with 901 Test runs against England and is 99 runs short of becoming the 8th wicket-keeper to score 1000 runs against them. The man from Ranchi, in 17 matches against England (all as wicket-keeper) has 9 half-centuries to his name. Only Brad Haddin of Australia has scored more – 11 in 19 matches.

However, the right-hander is yet to score a century. Interestingly, the batsman who is not known to have a good away record, averages more in England than at home.

Dhoni aggregates 522 runs in England at 40.15 compared to his 379 at 27.07 in India.

#2 James Anderson - Highest wicket-taker at Lord\'s

If the right-arm seamer manages two wickets in the match, he will surpass England legend Sir Ian Botham, as the leading wicket taker at Test matches played at Lord’s.

Also, the Lancashire bowler can edge past Fred Trueman, as the bowler with most number of wickets in England. Out of Anderson’s 359 scalps, 229 have come at home – equalling Trueman’s tally.

#3 Murali Vijay - Successive centuries in England

The Tamil Nadu player can become the first Indian opener to score back-to-back hundreds in England if the right hander gets to another three figure mark at Lord’s.

Vijay scored 146 in the first innings at Trent Bridge and 52 in the second, putting aside the selection issues. Gautam Gambhir is the reserve opener in the squad.

#4 Ian Bell - 7000 Test runs

The batsmen who played his landmark 100th Test match against Sri Lanka last month, provided if he gets to 116 runs in Lord’s, will become the 11th Englishman to reach 7000 runs in whites.

Bell has scored 6884 Test runs at an average of 44.99 with 20 centuries and 41 fifties.

#5 Alastair Cook - No.4 for England

The under-fire England captain, if he breaks his wretched run of form and scores 52 more runs, he can get past Kevin Pietersen to be placed at 4 in England’s all time leading run-getter list.

The left-handed opener has batted for 188 innings – 7 more than Pietersen and scored 25 centuries compared to the former player’s 23. Both have scored 35 fifties each.
