Cricket matches are a battle of wits between 22 men and the coaching staff of both the teams, with a lot of tactics involved in both the planning and execution. However, there are some teams where one player brings a lot of quality and takes the team to another level with his exceptional level of talent. That said player is the X-factor—someone who has the capability to single-handedly win games for his team.Just as Castrol Activ’s Actibonds Cling On to each other to continuously protect the engine thereby helping it function perfectly, these players give their teams a reason to be optimistic and can protect them from their opponents. And here are five such players who, if at their very best, could make their team win the World T20 –

#1 Mustafizur Rahman

Bangladesh might not have an actual shot at winning this tournament, but if they are to do it, then Mustafizur Rahman’s performance will be most important.

In a very short span of time, he has become Bangladesh’s prime bowler—someone whose absence makes the attack look highly toothless.

His presence was thoroughly missed in the opening game against Pakistan and his availability against Australia is going to be a major boost for the Tigers.

His stats are unreal as he averages a wicket in every 18 balls of international cricket in limited overs, and this wicket-taking ability of his is what makes him stand out among the rest. So, if Bangladesh have any chance to win, he must come out with all guns blazing.

#2 Kagiso Rabada

It is very difficult to come into a team that has a gifted fast bowling department and make one of the spots your own. That is what Kagiso Rabada has achieved.

He is a 20-year old fast bowler who hails from South Africa. Rabada is one of the newly-found gems that have been unearthed and he has shown his worth in the very short time that he has been here.

The young talent from Johannesburg might have just made his international debut over a year ago, but has already become one of the key players in the Proteas XI. Indeed, his surge to the top has been so good that it is on his shoulders that South Africa are placing hopes as they look to finally break their tournament hoodoo.

Rabada is one clever bowler who is not only fast, but has a very good head over his shoulders. His wicket-taking spree in ODIs and T20Is—where he averages 20.13 and 21.94, respectively—just shows the amount of skill that he possesses.

#3 Virat Kohli

Even though India are excellent as a team, where every player is a danger to the opposition in his own way, one can’t help but feel like they do depend on this one man to deliver the goods – especially after the eye-opening match against New Zealand.

Averaging 50+ in Tests is the sign of a great player. However, an average over 50 in T20Is just shows that the player is on an entirely different level when compared to anyone else.

Virat Kohli averages 51.51 in T20Is and was the only player who stood tall against the barrage of New Zealand in India’s dreadful showing. So if India are to win this tournament—for which they are the ultimate favourites—then their Test captain must rise above all, like he almost always does.

#4 Mohammad Amir

If this article was written a year back, many would have ridiculed this choice. After all, how could a player perform at the highest level after being out of the game for 5 years? Well, if that player’s name is Mohammad Amir, he certainly can.

The left-arm pacer was out of contention from international selection as he was found guilty of match-fixing charges, but he didn’t let that saga bring him down. In fact, he just used it to make a strong come-back and right the wrongs that he had committed.

Since his comeback, his bowling has almost bordered on unplayable. His incredible directness and ability to generate pace from the pitch has become even better than what it was before he got banned.

He might not have played for 5 years, but Amir has shown that he might have been out for a while, but he was by no means finished.

#5 Chris Gayle

A list of players who can win their team the ICC World T20 is incomplete with Calypso King Chris Gayle.

Gayle has always shown his love for the shortest format of the game and that is exactly how he plays when he goes on the pitch to bat.

His strength is beyond comprehension, his power is perhaps above all limitations. The man doesn’t like to take the pain of running across the pitch, hence most of his runs come in 6s and 4s.

Against England in the last game, West Indies chased down a tricky total like 183 with the utmost ease—and it was all thanks to Gayle’s knock of 100* in just 47 balls.

West Indies have a team full of power hitters, but there is none like Chris Gayle—and there can never be one.
