Fantasy Premier League: 5 players to pick for Gameweek 9

The Premier league embarks on its 9th round of fixtures this week and so does the Fantasy Premier League. It has come to that time in the FPL season where the initial settling in period is over, the mistakes that you made at the start of the season like the crazy Bojan/Ashley Young punt or picking Felipe Luis should have been ironed out by now. It is a perfect time to start making that initial push up the rankings. This article aims to help you in that endeavour. Here are 5 players you should pick for this weekend:

#1 Alexis Sanchez

The big summer signing for Arsenal seems to have settled in quite nicely. He has everything needed to become a fan favourite at Arsenal - pace, skills, work rate etc. Although he is yet to light it up in FPL yet, he has shown the signs that he can explode and become an essential. Coming in at 10.3 in FPL, he isn't kind on the budget but he can become a premium asset and deliver consistently. He has shown signs of good form recently with a goal and assist last week against Hull. With a winnable fixture against a woeful looking Sunderland this week, he seems as good a bet as anyone else.

#2 Saido Berahino

The young striker has enjoyed a breakthrough season already with West Brom and has established himself as the first choice striker. Setting you back just 5.7 in the FPL, he is light on the budget too. He has already scored 6 goals this season, betterd only by Costa and Aguero. His well taken finish against Manchester United speaks of how high his confidence is and this should be a good week for him and his West Brom team who have looked a better team this season with a game against Crystal Palace.

#3 Christian Eriksen

The talented Dane had a good first season at Spurs where he regularly bailed them out with crucial goals and assists and had a fine season FPL wise as well. It has started slowly for him this term though, initially he has had to live in the shadows of Lamela and Chadli. But the class player that he is, he has started to shine again with two goals in the last three games. He has a winnable fixture this week against Newcastle and should surely deliver.

#4 Graziano Pelle

If you do not have him already, you better press the panic button, look for a way to get him in, and well, get him in. Most of the Saints players like Tadic, Clyne, Bertrand have offered incredible value for money up until now and Pelle seems the best of the lot. He has already scored six this term and has taken to the premier league quite well. The Saints have surprised us all by surviving the mass exodus during the summer transfer window and have done quite well so far. Although the Saints will have sterner tests than Sunderland, Pelle seems to be a good bet for a constant source of goals at an affordable price.

#5 Seamus Coleman

The marauding Irishman is back! He has had an injury ridden start to the season and his team have missed him dearly, his defensive grit is backed up by his great skill, pace, crossing and finishing ability going forward. He was last season's breakthrough Premier League star and this is the season he will try to cement his value.

At 7, he is not kindly priced for a defender. But Everton embark on a good run of fixtures, which will hopefully mean clean sheets and with Coleman, a goal is always around the corner. All this means that he is good value for money and believe me when I say as a player who owned him all last season, he brings excitement into the game (real and FPL).
