Narbavi

In an era where T20 has become a rage, one would have thought that someone else would score a ton faster than one scored in 1986, but it isn’t the case until now. Here we will take a look at the top 5 fastest centuries ever made in Test cricket:Also read: Who has highest T20I wickets?

A Test match that will also be remembered for Warner’s brutal assault on India’s debutant Vinay Kumar, Warner almost made 50% of his team’s runs by ending up with 180. It was an innings victory for Australia and Warner was rightfully named the player of the match.

#4 Shivnarine Chanderpaul (69 balls)

Surprise surprise! At number 4 is this Guyanese legend who is known all over the world for his crabby technique and his penchant for spending loads of time at the crease. But with his side reeling at 53 for 5, Chanders decided to go for it and succeeded by scoring a 69 ball ton. Unfortunately, his side was still walloped by Australia by nine wickets.

#3 Jack Gregory (67 balls)

A Test hundred off just 67 balls in the year 1921 is what the late Australian Jack Gregory did. No ODIs or T20s to influence your game, but still he scored that brutal ton which incidentally is also the quickest in terms of time as it was scored in just 70 minutes.

#2 Adam Gilchrist (57 balls)

Arguably the greatest wicket-keeper batsman of all time scored the second fastest Test century. It was the third Test of the Ashes series in 2006-07, and the first innings finished even stevens. But Australia exploded in the second innings with Gilly helping himself to a 57 ball ton.

#1 Sir Viv Richards (56 balls)

Pure box office entertainment this legend was! He scored big and he scored them fast. He scored that hundred off just 56 balls with seven sixes against England in 1986. It was the last match of the 5 match series and he finished in style with his team drubbing England 5-0.
