19. Luka Modric – Real Madrid (Spain)

The Croatian midfielder failed to feature for the Los Blancos side due to his injury which kept him out in most parts of the season. Luka Modric plays a crucial part in pulling the strings for Real Madrid’s midfield along with the German Toni Kroos. The midfielder is rated 87 in the game. It’s surprising that Modric’s rating did not slip despite featuring little in the second half of the season but its a testament to his ability that Real Madrid’s form dipped in conjunction with his injury.

20. Philipp Lahm – Bayern Munich (Germany)

Philipp Lahm is ranked at number 20 and is rated 87 in the game. The German had a glorious year with the national team in their World Cup winning campaign in Brazil. Despite his injury setback last season with Bayern Munich which kept him out for months, his overall rating remains the same from the previous FIFA 15 release.

17. Sergio Ramos – Real Madrid (Spain)

Alongside Jerome Boateng, Sergio Ramos is one of the highest rated CB in FIFA 16 with an overall rating of 87. Following their La Decima winning campaign, Ramos had a disappointing season with Real Madrid last term ending trophyless and overshadowed by Barcelona’s brilliance. However, individually he had a good outing with Real Madrid, enough to convince Manchester United to go looking for his signature till he signed a new contract with Real Madrid.

18. Mesut Ozil – Arsenal (England)

In FIFA 16 Arsenal playmaker’s overall rating increases by +1 from 86 in the previous release. The World Cup winner Mesut Ozil was instrumental in Arsenal’s third position finish in Barclays Premier League table. Ozil is ranked 18 in the game and is rated 87. This is the season when the German could really stamp his presence in the Premier League with Arsenal as the spotlight is firmly on him in Arsenal’s attack.

15. Jerome Boateng – Bayern Munich (Germany)

Jerome Boateng has been a very reliable defender and regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s team. He is one of the most improved player in the past two seasons and his overall rating increases by +1 in this new release of FIFA 16. Despite the embarrassing fall against Messi making him look a bad defender, the German centre-back had a great season and is likely to continue in that vein despite an early suspension this time around.

16. Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea (England)

The Spanish international has made a remarkable start to his Chelsea career by winning the Barclays Premier League 2014/15 with 8 points gap at the top. He was also crowned the league’s highest assist provider. His overall rating is 87. While you would not expect the Spaniard to be rated any lower owing to his relatively poor finish to last season, he seems to have continued in the same vein at the start of the new season and needs to pick up his game.

13. James Rodriguez – Real Madrid (Spain)

The Columbian wonder kid was bought by Real Madrid for a hefty price in 2014, but he has proven his worth with glimpses of match-winning performances at the Bernabeu last season. James Rodriguez improves his overall rating with +1 from FIFA 14 and is now rated 87. His start to the 2015/16 season indicates that he could easily go higher on this list in future editions of the game.

14. Toni Kroos – Real Madrid (Spain)

Toni Kroos has had a good debut season with Real Madrid after making the move from Bayern Munich. An overall rating of 87 as the World Cup winner’s rise on the world stage has been acknowledged with EA Sports giving him an upgrade in FIFA 16. The midfielder will be keen to impress this season as the Euro 2016 competition is just around the corner and he will want to make the final cut for Joachim Low’s starting XI.

11. Andres Iniesta – FC Barcelona (Spain)

Andres Iniesta is a senior member of Barcelona’s squad now and is currently the club captain. The highly experienced midfielder led the charge in FC Barcelona’s treble-winning campaign in 2014/15. However in FIFA 16, his overall rating drops by -1 and is now rated 88. You could put the drop down to age or the fact that he had a declined influence on the game with the emergence of Ivan Rakitic in Barcelona’s midfield, but the star is always going to put in big performances for his team in the biggest games when a lot more is at stake.

12. Sergio Aguero – Manchester City (England)

Sergio Aguero had a stunning individual season with Manchester City by picking up last term’s Golden Boot award with 26 goals in 33 appearances. The Argentine gets an upgrade in his overall rating with +1. His exploits for the club ensured that they finished strong despite missing out on the Premier League title. It seems to have spurred the Citizens on to a great start this time around.
