BELLATOR 135 : Warren vs Galvao 2 - Preview & Predictions

Bellator returns to Winstar, World Casino Thackerville, Oklahoma, this weekend (Sat., March 28, 2015, 4 a.m. IST). The main event features a rematch of a fight that last took place in 2011, when Joe Warren received a controversial unanimous decision over Marcos Galvao. Here is my Preview of the Main Card & predictions for the entire Bellator 135: PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike.com, 4 am IST):Rashad Coulter Defeats Jeremiah O’Neal via KO/TKO.Sean Holden Defeats Tim Roman via Decision.Neal Ewing Defeats Logan Nail via KO/TKOEmmanuel Sanchez Defeats Alejandro Villalobos via Submission.Brad Mitchell Defeats Stephen Banaszak via Decision.Klayton Mai Defeats Xavier Siller via Decision.George Pacurariu Defeats Ivan Cole via Decision. Main CARD (Spike TV, 6:30 am IST):

#1 Ryan Couture (9-3) vs. Dakota Cochrane (18-7)

The lightweight clash between Ryan Couture and Dakota Cochrane might just be the most evenly matched fight on the main card.

Couture, son of legendary Randy Couture, has already impressed in his Bellator debut, submitting Tom Bagnasco in the first round by RNC. Both men are excellent grapplers, and Couture picks up 55-percent of his wins via submission, with Cochrane winning by tap 38-percent of the time.

Couture’s last two losses have come to Al Iaquinta and Ross Pearson. Who are some of the better 155-pound fighters on the UFC roster & Cochrane isn’t even anywhere near their level. I fully expect Couture to take control the cage & pace of the fight with his grappling.

Prediction: Couture wins via Decision.

#2 Francis Carmont (22-10) vs. Guilherme Viana (6-1)

Ex UFC MW fighter Francis Carmont fights for the first time in Bellator since his UFC release. He will take on Guilherme Viana at LHW

Viana has fought exclusively on the Brazilian regional circuit, where he has accumulated a 6-1 mark. He is riding a three-fight winning streak. Wheras The 33-year-old Carmont is on a three-fight skid that led to his release from the UFC. Before the losses, Carmont had notched six straight UFC victories, including wins against such notables as Chris Camozzi, Lorenz Larkin and Costas Philippou.

The fact of the matter is Viana was a TUF Brazil 3 hopeful who failed even to make it on to the show while Carmont was a top 10 UFC MW before the skid, fighting way better competition. What Carmont lacks in size he will make up in technique & unless Viana catches him with something he will smother his opponent in classic Tri star gym athlete style.

Prediction: Carmont wins via Decision.

#3 L.C. Davis (22-6) vs. Hideo Tokoro (32-27-2)

In the Co-Main event of the evening, WEC veteran L.C. Davis fights for the third time in Bellator against Hideo Tokoro, a veteran who has fought primarily in Japan.

Davis has looked good in Bellator with wins over Tory Bogguess and Zeilton Rodrigues. Davis is a strong and powerful wrestler which he fully showed against Zeilton Rodrigues at Bellator 124. It was a lopsided fight in which Davis put on a wrestling clinic. It was a dominant decision victory for the 34-year-old, and it solidifies the idea of what we can expect in this fight. Davis is going to look to bring the fight to the ground. Much like Warren, that is where Davis wins and loses his fights.

Tokoro is on a two-fight losing streak and is 2-3 in his last five fights. Tokoro hasn’t fought since last July, and that was a loss to Victor Henry where Tokoro was knocked out. He is very experienced, but he doesn’t have the takedown defense to stop Davis. Davis can beat him standing or grappling and has stopping power in his hands & his feet

Prediction: Davis wins via Decision.

#4 Joe Warren (12-3) vs. Marcos Galvao (16-6-1)

In the Main Event Bellator Bantamweight Champion Joe Warren makes his first title defense since beating Eduardo Dantas for the title at Bellator 128 in October. Marcos Galvao gets a second crack at the belt after suffering a loss to Dantas in his previous title shot.

These two are pretty similar kind of fighter. Both are grinders and 75% of their wins come by the way of decisions. and these two can come with a similar sort of game plan in this fight and it might come down to who executes it better & effectively.

Their first fight was a pretty exciting contest that featured a lot of grappling exchanges and reversals. Warren has improved more than Galvao since their first fight, which I though Galvao won two rounds to one. They both still have week defense, especially on the feet, and I would not be surprised to see either of them get knocked out. However, I will side with Warren to win because of his superior wrestling, endurance, and ability to push a fast pace for five rounds with superior cardio.

Prediction: Warren wins via Decision.
