NXT Takeover: Respect - 5 promising developments

Dash and Dawson: Showing some promise

Bayley Vs Sasha: Brilliance overloadThis may have been the most-anticipated WWE event since Summerslam. The Takeover series is a testament to how great professional wrestling can be when one sticks to detail, storytelling and character development. NXT has been proof that womens wrestling is alive and well and it can reach levels of wrestling perfection, never tried before on the main roster. It also proves that this is the best time in the history of WWE, where so many talented women exist at the same time.It was a show which was dominated by the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic matches but the best match of all, was saved for the last. Bayley and Banks tore the house down. Here are the five promising developments-

#5 Tag Team Classic

Dash and Dawson: Showing some promise

One of the many things that makes NXT better than the main roster is its treatment of the tag team and women’s division.

The match card for this Takeover was mostly tag team matches. While Samoa Joe and Finn Balor began the show on a really entertaining note, the first match of the night did well to establish and showcase the team of Dash and Dawson.

They got a lot of offense in and controlled a pleasantly surprising amount of the match until Joe came and finished things off.

#4 The tension

Not really a happy picture

The story moving into the Dusty Rhodes Tag team Classic is the one developing between Finn Balor and Samoa Joe. Joe, it seems, is definitely the premier wrestler to face Balor for his first title defense since Takeover: Brooklyn.

The first match of the night saw them winning but not before the final moments of the match saw Joe give Balor a reluctant tag and see him get the pin for the win. Joe even helped Balor out of the arena. That’s typical babyface. It’s only time until Balor actually turns heel.

#3 Asuka is Here

Asuka debuts

Asuka had a fantastic debut. Her entrance, the mask, the theme song and the fast paced match was what she needed to establish herself in NXT. This was awesome and memorable. Dana Brooke obviously did not win and now it seems, it’s Emma’s time to face the music.

This was another amazing bout in the entire match and the second best match of the night right after the splendid main event.

The women of NXT were definitely the highlights of the night.

#2 Apollo Crews\' momentum

Crews overcame Breeze

Crews’ was expected to win and he did, but this match was much better and much difficult for him compared to his previous bouts. With this victory, Crews is on his path to gain more credibility and since his performances have been so good so far, he’s not the type of wrestler who you think is being shoved down the audience’s throat. It’s better to give him some more time to develop into a better performer, and with this match he earned that time and some of the respect.

#1 The \'MATCH OF THE YEAR\' cadidate

A Legendary main event

This Takeover, despite everything on its match card, was all about the build-up to the main event which was legendary to begin with. Getting goosebumps talking or writing about it is nothing unusual.

Sasha Banks and Bayley not only created history, they stomped out every doubt regarding their booking with authority. WHAT A MATCH!

This was one of the best NXT Takeover main events ever. This was even better than their brilliant Brooklyn match.

What a way to end the show. That’s a revolution!
