Reminiscing Sachin’s ODI heroics against Australia

Arguably the greatest cricketer of our generation, Sachin Tendulkar reserved his best for the greatest team that we saw- the Australians. Boasting of an enviable record against the Kangaroos, he often proved to be a delight to watch as he wielded the willow quite dominantly against the likes of Shane Warne and Glen McGrath.In ODI’s, much like the longer format of the game, he piled up runs at will and set some records which will be hard to get past in the near future.Here’s listing some of them:

#1 Maximum Runs Scored

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for maximum runs scored in ODI’s between India and Australia. In 71 matches, he scored 3077 runs at an average of 44.59. His former Mumbai Indians teammate Ricky Ponting holds the record for Australia with 2164 runs in 59 matches.

#2 Maximum centuries and half centuries

Sachin holds the record for maximum hundreds & fifties scored in ODI’s between India and Australia. In 71 matches, the master blaster notched up 9 tons and 14 half centuries. He also has hit most boundaries in India-Australia ODIs. Over 71 matches and 70 innings, he hit 35 sixes and 330 over boundaries.

#3 Best on field too

Sachin, like most batting records also leads the fielding stats in ODIs between India and Australia. In 71 matches, he took 31 matches. Md Azharuddin & Ricky Ponting, both brilliant fielders had taken 18 catches each.

#4 3 out of 4 highest individual scores

Till Rohit Sharma scored his 209 in Bangalore in 2013, Sachin Tendulkar held the record for the top 3 highest scores in ODI’s between India and Australia. The 175 at Hyderabad in November, 2009 is followed by the 143 at Sharjah & the 141 at Dhaka in 1998.

#5 First to notch back to back tons

During that eventful tri series at Sharjah in 1998, Sachin became the first Indian batsman to score back to back centuries against the Aussies.
