The Athlete is a 2009 Ethopian film which is a portrayal of legendary marathoner from Ethiopia, Abebe Bikila who won gold medals in the Rome Olympics Games and Tokyo Olympic Games in 1960 and 1964 respectively. He was the first man to win Olympic golds twice in a row.

The loneliness of the long distance runner is a British classic from 1962 which is based on a hard-boiled teenager Colin Smith who ends up in juvenile offenders but uses running as a way to cope up with it escape a term in jail.

Running is a 1979 film by Steven Hilliard Stern. This movie was based on a fictional athlete Michael Andropolis who fails his qualification for 1976 Olympics which ends up ruining his life. Andropolis then tries for a second chance.

Chariots of Fire is a British histoeical-drama film based on two athletes in the 1924 Olympics. Eric Liddell, a Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God and the other was a jew Harold Abrahams who runs to overcome prejudice. The movie won 4 Academy Awards including the Best picture.
