Top 10 WWE Superstar costumes

It requires some good looks, great wrestling ability, well rounded microphone skills and a whole lot of luck to make it in the wrestling business. Another crucial thing in addition to all these are some good old costumes that stand out from the rest.Coming out wearing a bunny costume on your debut might doom the career right there while wooing the crowd with the costume might make one. It would be premature to say that someone’s success is all about costumes but the role cannot be ignored.Over the course of WWE history, we’ve seen a lot of costumes and there are certain superstars who stood out each and every time. So here is a look at some of those names who always knew to keep the style quotient up.

#10 Bray Wyatt

How can we not love Bray Wyatt? He was probably the most sorted out character that came into WWE in recent history. Bray had an unorthodox wrestling style while most of his microphone work was clearly ahead of the age.

Another thing which stood out was the way he dressed. Bray’s island t-shirt and white pants were a rip off from the famous character Max Cady from Cape Fear but Bray actually wore the attire better than Robert De Niro.

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan also had equally impressive clothes to be precise but Bray’s body language fell perfect with the clothes he wore and since the whole thing was new to the PG era fans, they just soaked it all up.

#9 Ultimate Warrior

Ultimate Warrior might’ve been one of the most overrated wrestlers in WWE history but there would be no arguments about his face paint and costumes.

It wasn’t much of a costume to begin with as they were basically some streamers hanging from his hand which were well built from his body building days. In addition this he also had some similarly coloured shorts to go with it.

He was probably someone who made the best use of streamers. There was also a variation of Warrior wearing spray painted denim jackets in the 90s but it’s his run with the streamers that made him noticeable and different from the rest.

#8 Mick Foley

It’s not the costume that made Mick Foley legendary; it was the other way around. Foley wore a red flannel and blue sweatpants for the majority of his career. Not only that, he also had a variety of costumes thanks to three faces of Foley.

Irrespective of whether it was Mankind, Cactus Jack or Dude Love, Foley carried anything he wore perfectly. Despite the variety, at the end of the day it’s his red flannel that stood out from the rest.

It’s also his personal favorite and Foley even wore it to the first ever wrestling show he went to see as a fan. He also wore it during his interview in WWE, he also wore it through barbwire, he also wore it through fire, and that’s why it is one of the most decorated costumes in wrestling.

#7 Goldust

Dustin Rhodes had a costume that would’ve doomed on any other day but instead of giving up just like that, he took it and made it work.

If Goldust was to be described using just one word, the word would’ve been ‘unique’. WWE has seen a lot of wrestler gaze the squared circle, but when Goldust came in, it was a breath of fresh air.

The initial gimmick centered a lot around homosexuality and the weird costume went hand in hand. The face paint added more glow to the whole thing while his antics in between the ropes played host for more fun. His gimmick took a big change in the latest run but the aura of the costume is still pretty much there.

#6 Shield

A trio coming up from NXT and taking over the WWE main event scene was a joy to watch. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns deserved to be there for the talents they possessed but what initially caught the attention was their dressing.

The Shield came out wearing tactical vests like they were part of some hard hitting sniper squad and all of a sudden, it was a big hit.

The faction backed up this newly grabbed attraction with their in ring style and turned out to be one of the most successful stables in recent history. After the split, Reigns was opted as the one to wear the tactical vest while the others took up different paths.

#5 Triple H

Hunter doesn’t always pull of a costume but when he does, he makes sure that he looks like a king. Those who have seen Hunter’s numerous WrestleMania matches would know how much time he spends on the entrance and costume.

Apart from the trademark sledge hammer and the water spitting, a throne and crown follows on the special occasions. His costume at WrestleMania 22 where he faced John Cena was a piece of art while the one at WrestleMania 30 also stood out.

It’s a good thing that he saves the costumes for big occasions but it would be always good to see Hunter pull the show off every now and then since it really gets the crowd going.

#4 Randy Savage

Randy Savage was the perfect package. He had the in ring ability and a whole lot of charisma which made him a major wrestling star who could give Hulk Hogan a run for his money back in the 90s. Randy’s costumes also had the charisma he possessed.

Pink and yellow trunks with a cape or head band were Randy’s initial costume style but as he moved towards the nineties, it became a bit crazier. There were a lot of bright colors being thrown into the mix and Savage slowly lost the aura.

However, despite that botched spell, he is still considered to be one of the most stylish superstars that has ever comes across the WWE ring.

#3 Undertaker

Not only did Undertaker have a legendary streak and entrance, he also had a legendary costume. Every time Taker walked down that ramp to have a match, there was something new about him.

He has had a lot of looks throughout his two and a half decade long career and there weren’t much to point out as a disappointment from that lot. Black and Purple would be a mainstay in Taker’s costume no matter what he wore while the American Bad Ass gimmick was a bit different.

It was more related to his real life as Taker has a love for motorcycles. Some of the things he did were unbelievable but the pure simplicity in his costumes and entrance always got the fans buzzing.

#2 Shawn Michaels

The Heart Break Kid was known for making big statements with his costumes. His Hall of Fame career had a lot of flashy costumes and almost all of them excelled over the previous one.

It would be hard to pick one costume from Michaels’ collected and say that’s ‘the’ best one but if there wasn’t any choice other than picking one, then the choice would probably be the one he wore at WrestleMania 25 before facing Undertaker.

Michaels wore a long white coat and hat which contrasted with the black and purple attire that Undertaker was wearing. It was pure storytelling with the costume and this was only one instance of Michaels stealing the limelight.

#1 Ric Flair

There are certain reasons why Ric Flair is a legend and one of them is because of his style. He had private jet, women, fame, money and most importantly class. Basically, he lived a life that every single person wanted to live.

Flair used to make custom robes and suits for wrestling events even if it was just for one night. He lived out his gimmick through those costumes while he told the story in between the ropes.

And of course there was his rant which said “I'm Ric Flair! The Stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' n' dealin' son of a gun!” who wore suits that were costlier than your house. Over the years, many have tried to replicate the success of Flair when it comes to dressing, but none of them ever made it because there will always be one Ric Flair, period.
