Serena Williams Vs Flavia Pennetta

Serena is looking in red-hot form in the tournament thus far winning over 80% of her first service points. She has not dropped more than three games in a set en route to the quarterfinal stage here.

Flavia Pennetta reached the semifinals last year after coming back from an injury layoff. She won Indian Wells in March earlier this year and has used her doubles prowess to good effect, be it coming to the net more often and hitting those volleys past her opponents.

It will be a tough task for the Italian as she heads into this match with a 1-5 head-to-head record against the American.

Match time: 4:30 am India time

#2 Stan Wawrinka Vs Kei Nishikori

Stan Wawrinka booked his place in the last eight with a four-set win over Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the fourth round, while Kei Nishikori had to battle back after being two sets to one down against the big serving Canadian Milos Raonic.

The Australian Open champion has won both matches against Nishikori heading into tonight’s match. The Japanese player will take confidence from the fact that he broke Raonic’s serve and try for an encore against Wawrinka in crunch situations during the match.

#1 Novak Djokovic Vs Andy Murray

It is a repeat of the 2012 US Open final when No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic takes on Andy Murray in the last eight at Flushing Meadows. The Brit had won his first major on that occasion in a tough five set encounter.

The No. 1 seed is looking in prime form cruising to the quarters without dropping a set. Murray lost a couple of sets before the fourth round, but he handed a straight sets defeat to Jo- Wilfried Tsonga in the previous round.

The Serb leads their head-to-head rivalry 12-8.
