#5 Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe

Both these right handed English batsmen played together in 39 innings and scored 3339 runs at an astonishing average of 87.86. Playing together for 7 years in Test matches, the pair contributed hundred or more runs partnerships 15 times and fifty runs partnerships on 11 occasions. Their highest partnership of 283 runs came against Australia at MCG, Melbourne, in 1925. Sir Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe retired from cricket in 1930 and 1935 respectively.

#4 Desmond Haynes and Gordon Greenidge

This West Indies duo played for 14 long years together in 148 Test innings and scored 6482 runs at an average of 47.31. They contributed hundred or more runs partnerships 16 times and fifty runs partnership on 26 occasions. 11 times their partnership remained unbeaten and their highest partnership was of 298 runs, which came against England at Antigua Recreation Ground, Antigua, in 1990. Haynes and Greenidge were openers for West Indies and spent lot of time at the crease together in Test matches, retiring from 1994 and 1991 respectively.

#3 Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting

While Matthew Hayden opened for Australia, Ricky Ponting followed him at number three position. The two batted together in 76 innings scoring 4765 runs at an unbelievable average of 67.11. Hayden and Ponting have registered 16 times hundred or more runs partnership together in Test matches for Australia. The pair also has registered 22 fifty runs partnership to their name. Their highest partnership of 272 runs came against England at Brisbane Cricket Ground, Brisbane, in 2002. Both these batsmen played together for 9 years for their country in Test matches. Hayden and Ponting announced their retirements from Test match cricket in 2009 and 2012, respectively.

#2 Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara

The Sri Lankan duo holds the second spot in this list of most number of hundred or more runs partnerships in Test matches. The two have batted together in 120 innings for Sri Lanka and have scored 6554 runs at an amazing average of 56.50. 19 times Mahela and Sangakkara have put together hundred or more runs partnerships for their team. The pair also holds the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in Test match history: a massive 624-run partnership against South Africa at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, in 2006. They have also contributed fifty runs partnership 27 times for Sri Lanka. While Jayawardene retired in 2014, Sangakkara continues to be active.

#1 Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar

These two legends from India top the list for the most successful batting pair of all-time in terms of scoring 100-run partnerships. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid have batted together in 143 innings scoring 6920 runs at an average of 50.51. They have together contributed hundred or more runs partnerships on 20 occasions. Besides this, they have been involved in fifty runs partnership 29 times. The highest partnership between Dravid and Tendulkar is of 249 runs, which they scored against Zimbabwe at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur, in 2000. Dravid and Tendulkar played together for India for 17 long years in Test matches, before retiring from cricket in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
