A shooting academy, begun by 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Gagan Narang, Gun for Glory aims to promote shooting by providing an opportunity to youngsters to learn the sport and develop into future stars.

The centre has a whole host of foreign coaches, a gun testing facility, a foreign grip maker and several other facilities.In addition to the essential facilities, the academy has also has a Sports Injury Management team, a yoga guru and a physiotherapist.

The academy has its base at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune and is also located in 4 other cities across the country- Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Jabalpur.

#2 Dr Karni Singh Shooting Rage, New Delhi

Spread ver 72 acres, this shooting range was built for Asian Games that were held for the second time in New Delhi in 1982 and is located om South Delhi near the Tughlaqabad Fort. The range is after Dr. Karni Singh, who won a silver medal at the World Championships in Cairo and was also the first shooter to be awarded the Arjuna Award in 1961.

The Range is split into 6 parts and consists of separate facilities for 10m Air Rifle event, the 25m Air Pistol event a 50m range, a range to contest finals, a trap-and-skeet range and a new armoury building.

Keeping the 2010 Commonwealth Games in mind, the structure of the shooting facility was demolished in October 2008 and rebuilding of the range was completed in a span of 13 months.

Various shooters, who participated in the 2010 Games, rated it very highly.

Sportzcraft looking to produce top class shooters

A non-profit organization, Sportzcraft inc. is a direct affiliate of the governing body for shooting in India, the National Rifle Association of India(NRAI).The vision of Sportzcraft revolves around creating new shooters, motivate upcoming shooters and upgrade existing shooters.

One of the areas that Sportzcraft focusses on primarily is the 10m category and one of its major goals is to produce top-class shooters, who can gat India medals at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Sportzcraft Inc was awarded the Best Company Promoting Sports at the FICCI India awards in 2014 and have their offices in New Delhi and Mumbai.

#4 Royal Sports Shooting Academy- Bengaluru

Located in Bengaluru, the Royal Sports Shooting Academy consists of 10 meter shooting range in India and aims to promote shooting in India. The academy conducts regular shooting courses to find out about new shooting talents and also conducts courses for professional shooters.

Keeping in mind how critical concentration is for a shooter, the academy also conducts yoga sessions and also gives shooters sports weapons, which would help them take part in state and national level competitions.

#5 Maharashtra Rifle Association-Mumbai

Located in Worli, Mumbai, the Maharashtra Rifle Association was started in 1968 and provides both a normal citizen and a professional shooter a chance to either shoot as a hobby or competitively. The MRA have facilities for three categories- 10m indoor air weapons range, a 25m range with an automated turning target system and also a 50m range.

Maharashtra have had a rich tradition of producing top-class shooters with the likes of Anjali Bhagwat, who became the first Indian shooter to be crowned World No.1 and also Suma Shirur, who was the first Indian shooter to equal the world record.
