Top 5 WWE Rumors of the week and analysis

Some big returns and some absences were the focal point of most of the WWE rumors that came out this week as WWE seemed to be going through a rough patch with most of the established stars. The NXT stars getting pushes after WrestleMania made sense when the news came that the WWE might be facing a thin roster soon. Some big names are rumored to be ready to take a break off the game while some other has been put off for one reason or the other. There was also some form of excitement in the air regarding the news that came about Goldberg. Rey Mysterio, Batista and Brock Lesnar were also in the spotlight of rumors as well. So lets take a look at some of the most interesting rumors of the week and see how credible they are.

#5 Goldberg returning

Goldberg mentioned that he had talks with Triple H before WrestleMania about facing Ryback. He however made it clear that nothing positive came out of the discussions and it apparently went nowhere.

Bringing him back and making him face Ryback is clearly an idea that no one appreciates as he could be booked in a bigger angle.

However, the best part about the rumor is we now know that he is willing to get back in between the ropes. He even mentioned about his wife and children who haven’t seen him wrestle which calls out the urge behind what he revealed.

The time needs to be right for his return now and WWE also needs to utilize him well unlike they messed up with Batista.

#4 Batista taking a break after Extreme Rules

The chances of this happening are really high as it was clearly reported that Batista’s two year contract with WWE isn’t for the whole time. He has provisions to take some leave here and there for managing his other commitments.

He has a movie down the lane which needs promotion and Marvel will leave no void in their efforts to do that. Batista was sure to take some time off for that but no one expected it to be this quick.

If it happens it certainly will hurt the WWE big time as the Evolution reunion will be cut short without making a big impact.

The fans were also buying into Batista after the WrestleMania match and it will all go down to ground zero if he goes after Extreme Rules.

He could be back in time of before SummerSlam, but by then WWE would have to make a whole new arrangement for him as the Evolution angle would burn out.

#3 Daniel Bryan out till Extreme Rules

Bryan clearly is going through tough times in his personal life as he recently lost his father just a week after he married Brie Bella. He managed to show up on Raw this week despite his father’s death but it might not be something he could pull out next week.

Bryan needs to spend some quality time with his family now and the busy schedule of WWE could wait.

Though it was a big creative disappointment for the WWE, they showed signs of writing Bryan off the TV with a kayfabe injury.

After the vicious attack of Kane, Bryan was said to be taken into the local facility which shows that the WWE are willing to give Bryan his break.

With Brie Bella involved in the angle now, the company could make Kane go after her till Extreme Rules which could push forward the storyline in the absence of Bryan.

#2 Rey Mysterio becoming an Ambassador

Rey is well past his prime between the ropes and has significantly slowed down. He is also suffering from a number of injuries which has kept him out of the ring. ,

It was rumored that he is on a very light schedule at the moment and is taking up an ambassador like role for the WWE. It would actually a good move for the master of 619 as he would love to be still part of the business even if he is not in the ring.

The occasional matches could come in handy as well, but his body hasn’t much left in the tank.

Rey is still very much popular among the fans and still has a lot of marketing potential left in him. Keeping him in the payroll even if he doesn’t wrestler regularly will only benefit the company as he could extend their reach to more places with his new role.

#1 Brock Lesnar facing Daniel Bryan when he returns

Brock Lesnar ending the streak would’ve been a great deal if WWE was to have him rooted with them for some time.

But apparently, he took the time off right after WrestleMania and lost a significant amount of heat. Lesnar returning at SummerSlam is the most likely scenario right now as it’s one of those big pay-per-views he would be willing to work.

And the news around the block is that he will be challenging Bryan for the title.

It’s going to be a great deal if it happens but one problem that WWE will face is to choose a winner. Lesnar winning the match just won’t make any sense unless he is willing to defend his title in the pay-per-views to come and be a regular guy.

Bryan winning on the other hand will end the big momentum that Lesnar has now after defeating Taker. Bryan will be a big star if he does so, but making Lesnar fall so quick might not be a good thing for business.
