Top 5 WWE Rumors of the Week and Analysis: July 26, 2014

The rumor mill as usual gave the fans a mixed bag of some good and some bad news this week. With such a big event like SummerSlam around the corner, the pay-per-view had its fair share in the headlines grabbers.WWE going to rebrand their championship belts with new Network logos was another big rumor that came across this week and it further fueled last weeks rumor of the company going to retire one major title soon.Midcard unification also saw its place among the speculations but was overshadowed by a possible Triple Threat match at SummerSlam. John Cena was amidst some rumors himself this week and here is a look at the biggest rumors from the lot and their potential effects.

#5 Nikki Bella to turn heel at SummerSlam

The angle involving Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon turned out to be a big success on last week’s Raw and WWE looks all set to reap maximum benefits from the feud by turning Nikki Bella heel.

Nikki turning would mean that she would align with the Authority and backstab her sister. Now that Brie and Stephanie will have a big space in the SummerSlam match card, there won’t be a bigger stage for Nikki to pull this off.

Brie will be more over with the fans if this happens after her match with Stephanie and WWE will have a feud to invest both the Bellas in after SummerSlam as well.

The Divas division which already has Paige and AJ Lee running a great angle and this would turn out to be a credible addition.

#4 Triple Threat for Intercontinental championship

The WWE fans are still wondering how the Intercontinental title reign of Miz is going to turn out. His first match after winning the title ended in defeat and the man who defeated lost to another superstar in the next match.

This has given rise to some rumors that suggest a triple threat match for the Intercontinental title at SummerSlam. And the three superstars in the mix: Miz, Dolph Ziggler and Bo Dallas.

Ziggler is up and running to get a title shot after he defeated Miz on Raw while Bo defeated Ziggler to have his say. Both Ziggler and Bo deserve to have a good match at the pay-per-view and this is an ideal situation.

The idea of adding Sheamus and making it fatal four way is also there among the possibilities which can lay foundation for a unification.

#3 Cesaro prohibited from using the Swing move

After he split up with Jack Swagger at WrestleMania, a majority of the fans thought that Cesaro would turn face and get a big push. However, the next night he was aligned with Paul Heyman who could even make Cena heel.

The heel alignment ended up giving some big pay-per-view main events for the Swiss Superman but the fans still treated him as a face thanks to the move set his owned.

Cesaros swing was pretty much over with the fans and WWE someone figured out that this was the thing which held him back from becoming a full-fledged heel.

He was asked to stop using the move by the company but hasnt paid any dividend for the superstar. His future is still up in the air after Lesnars return and taking or adding a move might not change things.

#2 Mysterio calling it a day

WWE extended their contract with Rey Mysterio some time back but now, the Mexican Superstar is not cashing in his checks due to some reason.

The rumor around the block is that Mysterio is seeking a way out of WWE and not cashing in the check is his way of making the message clear to WWE. Despite not having featured regularly in the WWE programming for a long time, Mysterio is still a fan favorite.

His departure wouldn’t be a big creative disappointment for the company but would affect their business adversely.

Mysterio’s merchandise sales is something that the company has been banking in on and also it’s his character which helps them to tap into the Mexican market.

#1 John Cena going to quit WWE for Hollywood

Brock Lesnar returned last week and got himself a match with John Cena at SummerSlam. One thing which was missing from the whole angle that WWE presented was Cena himself. He was absent from Raw due to film commitments and this has made the internet fans buzzing.

There are rumors saying that Cena might quit WWE for Hollywood if his movie career kicks off just like Rock did back in the days.

The injury history that Cena has is one of the things which supports this while the fifty-fifty response that he gets from the crowd is another. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Cena decides to take a lighter schedule and make the fans feel how valuable he is after being treated like this.

As far as the company is concerned, there wouldn’t be things worse than this for the business.
