Top 5 WWE Rumors of the Week and Analysis: September 7, 2014

The rumor mill is back in action for the week and after a small break it was CM Punk that came under the spotlight. Night of Champions was another big headline grabber among the course of the past seven days.NXT takeover 2, being WWE’s next big Network event was causing a lot of buzz when it came to the match card and potential results. It is a big opportunity for most of the superstars down in NXT while some will find it as a transition to the main roster.New WWE champion Lesnar and his possible future opponent proved to be among the biggest surprises. As always, here is the narrowing down of the best rumors that came out this week and how these speculations could turn out if they are materialized.

#5 Big Show will be Lesnars next opponent

One problem that WWE was going to have with Lesnar as the champion was the lack of credible opponents for the beast. Anyone who was pitted up against Lesnar would either get squashed or beaten up so that the Champion could look good.

Cena suffered the faith at SummerSlam and is preparing himself to go through the same at Night of Champions. There is not many options if Cena is taken out of the situation but someone in WWE has come out with a ridiculous idea.

And that idea is to let Big Show be the next challenger for Lesnar. it would make sense since Show is having some good momentum but the match clearly wouldn’t draw the crowd.

We already saw what Lesnar can do to Show at Royal Rumble and going in the direction again would seem repetitive.

#4 Charlotte and Ascension to be in the main roster soon

The rumor of Charlotte making it into the main roster has been around the block for some time. These became stronger this week as the company moved another step closer to Takeover.

Charlotte will be defending her title against Bayley at the event and is most likely to drop the gold so that she could make it into the main roster. There are also speculations of Ric Flair being there to manage his daughter.

Apparently, the women’s title is not going to be the only title changing at Takeover. Ascension looks set to drop their tag titles to Sin Cara and Kalisto leaving them free for a main roster call up as well.

It would be exciting times for the main roster fans if both the decisions turn out to be true since Charlotte and Ascension would add more depth to the roster.

#3 Night of Champions main event to have interference

Back at SummerSlam when Cena faced Lesnar, the match ended up being a clean one. Lesnar won the match fair and square with sheer power and dominance.

The WWE looks set to take a different road at Night of Champions. Unlike the last outing, the Cena – Lesnar match might be decided due to an interference which will then prove to be the future booking for Cena.

As mentioned earlier, the company has Big Show lined up for Lesnar after Cena which calls for a new opponent for the Cenation leader as well.

The interference could either come from the side of Seth Rollins or even Hunter as Cena could feud with either of them after Night of Champions.

#2 Kenta to make debut at Takeover 2

The Independent wrestling fans were sky high when WWE announced the signing of Kenta.

He is seen as a Japanese legend outside the WWE Universe and is expected to be the best Asian superstar that has gazed the WWE squared circle.

Despite having more experience than most of the main roster Stars, Kenta was put into the NXT roster where he has the lights of Prince Devitt, Kevin Steen, Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd for company.

Fans waiting to see Kenta make his debut in WWE will only have to wait till Takeover 2. Kenta is rumored to be in place for a big debut at the show and heading right into the title picture rather than being wasted.

#1 CM Punk in legal battle with WWE

Just when we thought that we’ve heard the last from Punk, he grabbed the headlines after a reported argument with the WWE over the 2K15 game.

Punk’s attorney apparently sent a long notice to Vince McMahon about how the company used Punk against his will while developing WWE ‘s next gaming venture. Punk left the company after Royal Rumble and but was under contract until July.

There are no follow ups on how both parties are reacting to the situation but it could get ugly fast. A full-fledged legal battle could hurt Punk and the company badly.

An out of the court settlement is another possibility. If the company can work out a deal to make Punk appear for one more match, that could be a happy ending for everyone.
