Here, we will have a look at thetop British F1 drivers. Although the British havent had as much success in Formula 1 as their other European counterparts some drivers have really left their mark on the sport. Here are they:

#1 James Clark

James ‘Jim’ Clark was truly one of the greatest F1 drivers ever and would have certainly gone on to achieve much more if not for a tragic racing accident. Clark won two F1 World Championships in his illustrious career and won the British Grand Prix a record five times. Clark’s racing career wasn’t limited to F1 as he loved racing more than anything and even won the Indianapolis 500 in 1965.

#2 Jackie Stewart

The Flying Scot was truly phenomenal in his hayday and is looked up too by British drivers even today. Stewart holds the record for being the only British three-time world champion to date and also won the British GP twice in his career. Stewart dominated F1 during his nine seasons and managed to come in the top three an astonishing six times. Sir John won’t be forgotten by F1 enthusiasts anytime soon.

#3 Graham Hill

Hill was another great British driver who passed away too soon. The Englishman won the F1 World Championship on two occasions and held a long standing record of 176 starts. Hill sadly passed away in a plane crash in 1975 but his legacy was carried on by his son Damon who won the Championship in 1996.

#4 Nigel Mansell

Easily one of the best F1 drivers ever, Mansell won a World Championship just once but made numerous records in his incredible career that sets him apart from the rest. The Englishman won 31 of his races more than any other British driver and won the British Grand Prix an astonishing four times a record that is only surpassed by James Clark and Alan Frost.

#5 Lewis Hamilton

Undoubtedly one of the best drivers of our time, Lewis Hamilton is surely one of the most famous and most loved Formula One racers. The 29-year-old won the F1 World Championship in 2008 with McLaren becoming the youngest driver achieve that feat until the record was broken by Red Bulls Sebastian Vettel. Hamilton is replicating his McLaren form with Mercedes this season and could very well help his team to the F1 World Championship.
