#5 John Calipari rejected mega contract to be Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach and President

University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari rejected a 10 year $80 million deal from Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cavaliers, who are looking for a coach after they fired Mike Brown at the end of this past season.

The deal also promises Calipari both positions of Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations for the franchise. Had he taken the deal, Coach Cal would have been in the same position of power as Doc Rivers (Los Angeles Clippers), Gregg Popovich ( San Antonio Spurs), Flip Saunders (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Stan Van Gundy (Detroit Pistons).

Capilari instead took the 7 year $52 million extension from the University of Kentucky to stay as their basketball head coach.

#4 Phoenix Suns star Eric Bledsoe is looking for max contract this off-season

Eric Bledsoe who was a front runner for the Most Improved Player of the Year award before a knee injury came knocking mid-way through the season, is looking for a max deal this off-season even if it’s not by his current team Phoenix Suns.

After moving out of Chris Paul’s shadow to the state of Phoenix, Bledsoe put up monster numbers in his first season with the team, and was only among 7 other players to average above 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 1.5 steals. He set those benchmarks while logging in 33 minutes a game, becoming only the fourth player to do so.

Suns team president Lon Babby had mentioned earlier in the season that the franchise would match any max offer, other teams put forward for Bledsoe. Although Suns would hope to retain him for a discount given his performance and play alongside point guard Goran Dragic, it is unlikely that the Suns will back down from matching offers for him.

#3 Byron Scott and Lakers management meet for a second time

The Head Coach position for the Los Angeles Lakers is vacant, and Byron Scott after his second meeting with the Lakers management seems very confident on filling the void.

Scott met Lakers Vice President of player personnel Jim Buss and general manager Mitch Kupchak Tuesday.

Scott who has played alongside Kobe Bryant in Bryant’s rookie season, believes that he’d be the perfect coach for Bryant and to get the Lakers back to their winning ways.

Scott and Bryant have spoken several times and if sources are to be believed, talks have reached a point where the management and Scott are discussing contractual terms.

#2 NBA to hear the lawsuit of Donald Sterling

Late last week it was believed that Donald Sterling had agreed to sign papers which would lead to the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers team to Former Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer. The situation has changed completely now. As per latest developments, Sterling will go ahead with his lawsuit on the league which challenges the life ban and $2.5 million fine on him.

Shelly Sterling would go to court Wednesday morning to get an affirmation from the judge, that she acted legally in determining that Donald Sterling was mentally incapacitated.

Prior to the sale deal between Balmer and Shelly Sterling, the NBA had fixed June 3rd as its date to hear Sterling’s suit. Now that Donald Sterling has made a U-turn, the NBA has agreed to reinstate the hearing if Donald Sterling can be proved mentally fit to continue his role as co-trustee of the Sterling Family trust.

#1 Miami Heat planning to rope in Carmelo Anthony for a \'Big Four\' next season

Sources told ESPN.com that Miami Heat officials and thier top players are exploring available financial options to land New York Knicks All-Star Carmelo Anthony this off-season.

This report surfaces amid other stories that the franchises Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks were also looking to attract LeBron James and Anthony to their respective clubs.

James and Anthony are more than good friends, have been so since their draft year 11 years back in 2003. As per Stephen. A. Smith who writes for ESPNNewYork.com, the two superstars are quite keen to play alongside each other in the same team provided the situation allows it.

Apart from every player having to take a hefty pay cut, there is nothing stopping the Heat from assembling a Big Four for next season (Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and James), if the players want it as badly as the franchise does.
