The Miz is Here

Paige is probably the best judge on the showThis week was a bit different in the sense that it has a fresh new start for a judge. The Miz joined the cast and crew of Tough Enough and made an instant impact. But if that was positive or negative, that’s still a tricky question.Miz definitely has the presence and the credibility and he surely is entertaining. The show continued to have an erratic pace and just like its contestants, nothing really sets this show apart, for now. Hope that changes soon. Here are the 3 points to note from this weeks episode of Tough Enough’s latest season-

#1 The New Judge

The Miz is Here

Well, the show started on an obvious note. They did not acknowledge Hulk Hogan’s absence but they did acknowledge the new judge- The Miz.

There is no doubt that Miz is tailormade for this platform of reality television. He was great on Tough Talk but he’s a very credible choice for a judge. He started off by making his opinion clear about Patrick’s elimination last week. He would have saved him if he could. That led Paige to speak out after she asked Miz to shut up for a second. She said, well,if the audience wanted him to stay, they shouldn’t have voted him out.

That said, the action moved on to the contestents.

#2 ZZ, Cesaro and the challenge

Why is ZZstill part of the show?

ZZ gave a little ode to his friend Patrick by making him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and placing that and two glasses of milk in front of his picture. It’s especially weird and surprising to watch ZZ trying to exercise and getting into shape like Patrick. It’s surprising to see a contestant on wrestling reality show to do that. Isn’t exercising the first thing you’d think a contestant does on a usual basis?

Anyway, the Swiss Superman made a Shawn Michaels’ Wrestlemania- like entrance on the show, on a zip line. He talked about focus and how important it is to remember a million different things other than being entertaining. In this show, this is as close and crafty as WWE has come to tell its audience in the most indirect way possible that wrestling is predetermined, rehearsed and essentially a pretend sport.

#3 The Elimination

Mada has been eliminated

At the Performance Center, the challenge mostly told the story of how a wrestling match between two individuals is more like team work than anything else. Mada thought that ZZ was making him look bad and all Mada was doing was trying to keep ZZ motivated.

So after a little bit of compulsive, formulaic drama between contestants where they argue about, basically, nothing, we move on to the judges arena and it’s kind of great to see Miz being so serious and not playing nice when it comes to ZZ.

ZZ was given a hard time but it wasn’t actually good enough to get him eliminated.

Amanda was voted out but Miz, then stepped in and clearly ended the episode on a whimper than a roar. He used his one ‘save’ for Amanda and the only reason he did that was because ‘she’s hot’.

Hence, Mada got eliminated.
