WrestleMania 31: 5 Storylines that could sprout from the pay-per-view

If you thought wrapping up WrestleMania will all of a sudden give the people in WWE a long and happy holiday, think again. From the moment WWE wraps up WrestleMania, they will be busy plotting the plans for their next year’s outing. The seeds for the same will be sown in this year’s WrestleMania itself and it will give the WWE Universe a vague idea about what they should expect on the Road after WrestleMania. From the potential match card that we have for the pay-per-view, here is a look at some of the storylines that could sprout out from the granddaddy of them all.

#5 Seth Rollins and his championship dreams

Rollins’ desire to win the WWE Championship is no secret. A majority of the fans thought that he would not be able to cash in the Money in the Bank contract in Lesnar’s reign and they were right. However, Rollins did try to get the job done on a couple of occasions and it was a surprise indeed.

The whole story is going to turn upside down at Mania. Lesnar is almost sure to lose his championship to Reigns at the pay-per-view and if it benefits anyone other than Reigns, it has to be Rollins.

He will have more realistic cash in option in the form of Reigns after Mania. The desperation of Rollins to get the gold will be a major story after Mania and the inception will probably happen at the show as well.

#4 The bad guy Sheamus

Sheamus has been missing from the WWE programming for nearly three months now. The rumor mills are eager about his return and according to them, the Celtic Warrior might be returning as a full blown heel.

The fresh return will be a welcomed sight for the current main event scenario which lacks credible heels. At Mania, Sheamus could go on to win the Andre the Giant Battle Royal.

He could easily rubberstamp his heel turn and handpick a new feud from the battle royal. Post WrestleMania, we are bound to see Sheamus been pushed to the stars and hopefully the process would be planned properly rather than being filled up with random bookings.

#3 The NXT recruits

WWE is yet to book a NXT match for WrestleMania, even though, the fans are crying out for it. A full NXT match might not feature in the pay-per-view despite all the rebellion but that doesn’t mean the presence of NXT being fully wiped away from WrestleMania.

We could see one or two main roster debuts at WrestleMania with the Andre the Giant battle royal in the place and if that’s the case, the post- Mania period is going to be exciting. Last year we saw Paige, Adam Rose and many more get the pick and this year, the choices are even more talented.

Finn Balor, Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville and many more will be looking to fill in the slots and with the ability these guys have, it would be hard to screw up their debuts.

#2 Cries of a midcard goat

After making history at last year’s WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan will be relegated into the midcard this time around. And guess what, he looks set to be there for a long run.

He will most likely be involved in the Intercontinental championship match at Mania and he could go on to win it as well. Now, the championship is prestigious and has been held by many great wrestlers but if Bryan wins it, it would be something that’ll root him to the midcard.

Bryan would go down as another version of Dolph Ziggler. Where he will be a wrestler with immense talent and yet not being pushed by the company properly.

#1 Samoan Champion

If things go ahead as planned, when WrestleMania goes off air, Roman Reigns would be standing tall with the WWE title around his waist. It would be the start of a new era as we know and Vince McMahon would be pulling all this strongest strings to make Reigns look strong.

Getting a win over Brock Lesnar for starters would gift Reigns lots of momentum. Reigns could carry the torch perfectly with such momentum on his pocket. At the same time, he would be ready for whatever challenge that awaits him since no one could outclass Lesnar’s capability.

At the end of the day, when Mania ends, the seeds for the Samoan Reign will be buried and watered properly.
