Cesaro

Dark Knight RisesPeeping into the personal lives of WWE superstars is a joy. No matter whether it is for the bad or good, there is a sense of pleasure in knowing the likes and dislikes of the icons we see in WWE. This list follows that theme. Just like everyone one of us, WWE superstars also have their favorites when it comes to the movie world. The parallels between the movie world and WWE are many. Both thrive on storylines and character while there is a huge influence of fiction. Wrestling falling in love with movies deserves recognition since a performer has the ability to be a great critic. So here is a look at some of the superstars and their favorite movies.

#12 Honourable Mention: Cesaro: Gladiator

Cesaro

Cesaro might not be having a great time in the WWE roster right now. The Swiss Superman, however, has a great taste when it comes to the movies. His favourite movie is the Ridley Scott classic, Gladiator which starred Russell Crowe in the lead role. The movie that won the Oscar in 2000 inspired Cesaro a lot and he is not hesitant to admit the same.

And when it comes to German films, Cesaro loves the flicks in which Bud Spencer appears. His favorite from the lot is Double Trouble. The film was 1984 and told the story of two billionaire cousins who wants to close a large deal in Rio.

#11 Honourable mention: Sheamus- Ghostbusters

Sheamus

Sheamus has flirted with the main event scene and mid card scene with equal frequency. He is currently on his way to making it to the top.

Keeping kayfabe apart, in real life, Sheamus is a Ghostbusters fan. The supernatural comedy film was released in 1984 and ended up being one of the cult hits of the era. Stars like Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver gave out excellent performances and this was enough to capture the love of the Celtic Warrior.

Even when he admits that he is a lover of Ghostbuster, Sheamus says that he has a lot of favorite movies, but Ghostbusters is the first flick that comes to his mind when the question pokes up.

#10 The Miz: Dumb and Dumber, Die Hard

The Miz

The Awesome one loves movies by its genre. He does not have an overall favorite to talk about, but he does have a handful of favorites to show. First of all in the comedy genre, Miz loves Dumb and Dumber. When it comes to thriller movies, he is a big fan of the film Layer Cake. In the Horror genre, Miz is a fan of Freddy Krueger films like Nightmare on the Elm Street.

Old School favorite of Miz is Lost boys while Die hard is his favorite action movie. Now, it is hard to find a pattern here so don’t bother wasting time on it, it is going to be a goose chase.

#9 Stardust: Space balls, Dark Knight Rises

Stardust

I don’t know whether Cody was sticking to his character or not, but when asked about his favorite movie recently, he pointed out Space balls. And he had a good reason for his liking as well. He said that most of the science fictions out there are inaccurate so he loves this sort of parody films that come out. In short, he does not l like apocalyptic sci-fi, he likes parody sci-fi.

Before he wore the Stardust character, Cody was a lover of the Dark Knight Rises film. He was mighty impressed with the third installment of the Dark Knight Series and shared his love for the film in WWE’s web series.

#8 Goldust: Star Wars

Goldust

The classy Goldust has some classy choices when it comes to his favorites. Goldust’s taste in films revolves around one name, ‘Star Wars’. The future WWE Hall of Famer loves the franchise. And if he had to pick a favourite from the series, he would pick ‘Empire Strikes back’. He also hopes that the new installment of the Star Wars series would come out as a successful venture.

Apart from Star Wars, Goldust likes Star Trek as well. He really ‘dug’ the Into the Darkness film (even if he had a tough time remembering the name of the movie) and would love to watch similar movies in the future.

#7 Brie Bella: Life is Beautiful

Brie Bella

What do you expect from a Diva? An action movie like Terminator? A sci-fi like Inception? No, Brie Bella loves the comedy-drama Life is beautiful. Brie said that the movie touched her deeply the first time she saw it. And since it was Italian, she needed the help of subtitles, but even with the subtitles, Brie was captivated by the story.

She says that she has a plethora of memorable moments from the film that she will never forget. One must wonder how Daniel Bryan sits through the film with his wife. Speaking of Bryan, he also has a favourite movie which he watched a million times. And that is in the next slide.

#6 Daniel Bryan: When Harry Met sally

Daniel Bryan

The movie that Daniel Bryan watched million times is ‘When Harry Met Sally’. It is surprising to see that a romantic comedy is the favourite of Bryan. However, he has all the right to love the film. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal gave the performances of their life in the film and it was silver lined with some excellent direction by Rob Reiner.

Now, if you had doubts on why Bryan and Brie tied the knot, this might be one of the answers. They both love romantic films. And instead of loving some random romantic film, they love classics like these, so there is not much room for complaints here.

#5 CM Punk: Iron Man

CM Punk

CM Punk’s love with comic books is no secret in the WWE universe. In fact, once his WWE career came to an end, Punk struck a deal with Marvel to write comics for them. And it was during an interview with Marvel where he revealed his love for the Iron Man Movie.

Punk had been a fan of the Avengers comics from his child itself and when they gave movies for the superheroes, it was Iron Man that appealed to Punk the most, the first film to be precise. Maybe it is the smarts of Robert Downey Jr. that attracted Punk. Imagine those two having a debate on something.

#4 Triple H: Gladiator

Triple H

Another Gladiator lover in the list is Triple H. Hunter, who has starred in a good share of movies himself said that the story of Gladiator is phenomenal. And along with this phenomenal story, the film is capped off with good action. When it comes to his second favorite, Hunter has millions of comedies.

These comedies range from Hangover to Dumb and Dumber. He loves getting entertained and watching comedy films is one of his favorite pass times. But then again, it all depends on his mood. Some days of the week, he loves watching Tropic Thunder and others, he tunes into Gladiator. He gets marks for honesty here since he did not say anything about Blade or The Chaperone.

#3 Stone Cold Steve Austin: Cool Hand Luke, Jeremiah Johnson

Steve Austin

Now, personally I had to Google these two names. It might be because of my lack of knowledge in the area but from what I found in Google, Austin has a good taste. Cool hand Luke is a film which holds a 100% fresh rating in Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2 rating in IMDB. To get the gravity of things, Dark Knight has a 94 % Fresh Rating.

Jeremiah Johnson, on the other hand, holds 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. So, basically, Austin knows how to pick his movies. Austin has been looking to make a big career in Hollywood like The Rock and hopefully he will succeed as well, he clearly has the taste for it.

#2 Damien Sandow: no, he loves books

Damien Sandow

When asked about Damien Sandow’s favorite film, he came out with a kickass answer: I Love Books. Now, give that man a push already. And go to next slide to find what John Cena loves.

#1 John Cena: Star Wars movies and Smokey and the Bandit

John Cena

John Cena might not look like one, but he is a Star Wars fan. The Star Wars Franchise has inspired Cena heavily and has never been able to choose just one. Apart from the Star Wars Series, Cena also loves Smokey and the Bandit. The first movie released in 1977 is among Cena’s favorite along with the second one released in 1980.

The Cenation leader, however, is critical of the third installment that came out in 1983. He has no such problems with the Star Wars franchise and loves them all. So, kids, Star Wars and Smokey and the Bandit are what your colorful superhero loves in his real life.
