5 Bad Decisions that WWE made in 2014

2014 has been a big year for the WWE. They launched the Network while making some historical booking decisions down the road. Many memorable matches and turns were also there to make the year look more special, but it was not always rainbows for the company. No matter how well they managed to project the positives, there are certain moments that Vince McMahon would look back regretfully.Even a tiny mistake made by the writers is pointed out as a big blunder by the critics and some booking decisions gave a lot of ground for these same critics in 2014. So here is a look at those moves that was totally screwed up by WWE.

#5 Ill management of the NXT call ups

NXT is a place where the wrestlers gets the training on what to do and what not to do when they are given the luxury of the main roster.

Many superstars came from NXT and made it big in the main roster but this year it has been a different story. Names like Emma, Bo Dallas, Paige and Adam Rose were called up only to get botched booking to a certain extent.

Emma was known for her in ring skills in NXT but got paired with a goofy Santino Marella. Adam Rose on the other hand would’ve gone places with a multiple personality while Bo wasn’t given enough time to extend his streak.

Paige might’ve won the divas title twice after making her debut but she is yet to unleash the Anti-Diva which made her famous in the NXT circuit.

#4 Damien Sandows gimmick

A year back, Damien Sandow had the Money in the Bank briefcase with him and was almost running a program with none other than John Cena. Things turned upside down for the superstar after that when he became only the second name that failed to win the title after cashing in.

Now to be frank, Sandow is someone who knows how to talk and wrestles better than a majority of the current roster. Despite knowing this fact, WWE decided to root Sandow in the midcard list where he had nothing more to do than job.

And to make matters worse, they even gave him many costumes which were not anywhere near entertaining.

Sandow’s booking is a prime example on how not to book a talented performer and his current run doesn’t look like ending any time soon.

#3 Batistas initial push

When Brock Lesnar returned after his stint in UFC, WWE gave him a main event push by letting him face John Cena. The ending of that match was botched but Lesnar proved that he belonged there.

This wasn’t the case with Batista. Unlike Lesnar, the Animal didn’t grow big after leaving. His return news was certainly big for everyone but when it came to the in ring work, Batista stumbled big time.

The road to WrestleMania didn’t pan out well for Batista while his feud alongside Evolution against Shield was a much better booking decision.

WWE’s blind faith in Batista was the reason for his initial favor and the company should’ve just let Batista involve in multiple superstar angles rather than letting him win the Royal Rumble and go all the way to the top.

#2 Cesaro as Paul Heyman guy

Being a Paul Heyman guy is something that most of the superstars would dream of. Names like Lesnar, Steve Austin and many others have flourished alongside Heyman.

This was the reason why Cesaro got a similar booking but instead of having him in the main event scene, Cesaro ended up getting no backing for the new tag he got after WrestleMania.

The fans were behind him, he had the talent but only the push was lacking. The Swiss Superman got involved in some title matches but never got a one on one shot which he deserved.

And to make matter worse, when Lesnar returned, Heyman left Cesaro’s side without even giving an explanation for his departure.

#1 The whole CM Punk incident

CM Punk was having a credible main event run when all of a sudden he decided that it was time to call it a day. Punk’s departure was a big blow for the company that was gearing up for WrestleMania.

The fans were hell bound in chanting his names at every arena after the exit but WWE never spoke a word about the straight edge superstar. The reason for his exit is still unclear and both parties not addressing the issue make it weirder.

WWE had the chance to make a big heated angle out of Punk’s departure if they had given some kayfabe reason but the writers failed to explore that opportunity.

Failing to capitalize and losing a big star like Punk wasn’t something WWE should’ve done as it is the biggest blunder in 2014 so far.
