WWE always has a share of disappointments which outweigh the positives. Logic deserts the Creative team and the management a lot. The biggest disappointment is maybe the repetitive state of content. But to counter that argument one needs to think that if so much repetition wasn’t present, the moments that are different won’t be talked about or celebrated as much as they should. That’s why it was great that Cena- The Superman lost to Brock Lesnar without a fight. It was a great talking point. So moving on, WWE still has had its share of other disappointments and here are the five major disappointments from this year.

#6 Dishonourable Mention- The Bellas Storyline

There have been only two points of redemption for this hugely disappointing angle. One is that Nikki Bella plays a heel well (her heel turn also was well executed) and the match between these two at Hell In A Cell was actually really good better than what was expected from AJ Lee Vs Paige.

BUT..

That doesn’t cover up for the fact that the promo interactions were mortifying. It couldn’t have been worse given the amount of time devoted to it that is unlike the main roster Divas Division.. Also, without giving any reasons whatsoever, Brie Bella turned heel as well after her sister’s rampage of humiliations and making her the assistant, Brie Bella is on the same page with her sister. It has to be the most dubious of all storylines.

#5 Bray Wyatt vs John Cena

Okay, the build up to this feud was one of the best. it was spectacular and hence visually enthralling. Wyatt really had the whole world in his hands. The way they portrayed the growth of Wyatt’sinfluence was stellar.

The little kid singing ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands’ was metaphorically perfect for Cena to realize that his major fanbase his tilting towards the Eater of Worlds. The video package with Eminem ‘This is my legacy’ as the soundtrack provided one of the best video packages of this year.

Yet, Wyatt lost and the match dragged for the most of the time. The entire feud has one standout match in the Last man Standing stipulation, but this feud majorly pushed Wyatt back and he couldn’t bounce back even after a feud with jericho. he had to leave the WWE scene only to return ar Hell In A Cell.

It also added more fodder for the hardcore and the internet fans to make Cena look like the hurrying machine for promising talent.

#4 Corporate Kane

It is apt, it is precise to say that nothing that Kane does right now matters. The Corporate gimmick has resulted in him as being the one to interrupt matches and spoil the good finishes. Also, his feud with Ryback did nothing for The Big Guy, in terms of momentum.

It might as well be forgotten. None of his matches have any excitement surrounding it. This gimmick has made him be anything but intimidating.

Him protecting Seth Rollins at Money In The Bank, at the Raw main event vs Ambrose, at Hell In A Cell was just too much.

#3 Cesaro and Heyman

Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro have had a very game-changing year. While Ziggler has a had positive change, Cesaro has had a very negative turn. The Swiss Superman started this year with some major momentum.

His freaky nature of strength was coming to the fore and he became the first winner for the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It was a Wrestlemania moment which got one of the biggest cheers of the night. And then, on the next night itself, he became a Paul Heyman Guy. It was the pinnacle of pushes and then Lesnar came back for Summerslam and thus began the ambiguity towards Cesaro.

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, without any interaction shown on screen, Heyman was separated from Cesaro. He had good matches where he lost looking strong nonetheless but then came reports about being punished for his comments that he’s also sick of watching Cena and Orton facing each other.

And the Vince McMahon says that he lacks the ‘It factor.’The later part of the year has been about adding more insults to injury.

#2 Firing Del Rio and CM Punk\'s departure

WWE really lost its game here. One day, out of nowhere, there was a news flash that Del Rio had been fired for slapping a WWE employee. There were reports that the employee made a racial joke that provoked Del Rio and he ended up getting slapped. And then, there were rumors that WWE might take actions against him if he competes in any other organization with respect to the ‘No Compete’ clause in his contract.

But before all of this, the beginning of the year saw the biggest departure of all as CM Punk left the company after the Royal Rumble. Now Punk, has since, made his side of the story clear and the CM Punk saga ended when he finally signed with UFC.

These two are now or will be competing for new promotions specifically because legally they can as they were ‘Independent Contractors’ with the WWE.

WWE, being the corporate giant that it is, wouldn’t have let them off so easy and dealt with them silently if they were legally okay.

#1 Batista\'s return

WWE just couldn’t make it work and Batista had to suffer the brunt of it. While he is enjoying his film’s success, he’s had possibly the most disappointing returns in recent times.

Thanks to Creative’s incompetency, he predictably won the rumble when Bryan was clearly the star of the moment, false reports of him not buying into Bryan’s popularity and refusing to put Bryan over went around and then he and Orton were both sidelined and Triple H’s sidekick in the Evolution reunion and then he thankfully quit.

Add to that, the unnecessary attention to his wardrobe- be it his skinny jeans and him ripping them off accidently or the Smurf all blue attire at Payback- were the subject of many jokes.

There was no getting back up from there.
