So much has been spoken, discussed and written about Wrestlemania’s best and worst. The best superstars, the worst matches, the best build ups to the worst of the kind. But not many come out of Wrestlemania with that quintessential Wrestlemania moment. They usually may get overshadowed by the many big names. There are a few names that don’t usually come to the forefront when considering the best moments related to Wrestlemania. But if you go back in time and watch some of these performances, you are thoroughly entertained and you just wonder why their Wrestlemania performances haven’t stood the test of time. So, that’s why here is the list of five most underrated performers in Wrestlemania history who definitely should get more credit for their Wrestlemania performances-

#5 LIta

She is arguably one of the greatest female performers of all time. But there was a time when she was the simply the most popular woman in the WWE. Over time Trish Stratus improved her in-ring game to be named as the greatest female performer of all time by the WWE. But there has been no diva who has been as much loved a babyface and as much hated a heel as Lita.

Lita has had only one Wrestlemania match and that was a very good triple threat match against Jazz and Trish Stratus for the Women’s Championship. This match was overshadowed by the match that it followed. That overshadowing match was the classic between Hulk Hogan and The Rock at Wrestlemania 18.

The classic Ladder match for the tag titles at Wrestlemania 17 between The Hardyz, the Dudleyz and Edge & Christian wouldn’t have been complete without the interference of their respective comrades such as Lita, Spike Dudley and Rhyno. Lita being the only woman to fight, momentarily, in that match defined why she was considered to be the coolest and the most fearless woman around.

And then there is another classic match between Edge and Mick Foley. Who can forget the moment when Edge speared Foley into the table on fire? But what is important to note is Lita playing a pivotal part in leading the match into Edge’s palm.

#4 Scott Hall

Most of us remember Razor Ramon in Wrestlemania for that classic ladder match against Shawn Michaels. That is an iconic match and it symbolizes the first time the ladder made its mark in a the realm of the WWE. Time has passed but it still stands alone on its own despite many better versions of ladder matches. Wrestlemania 31 is maybe sort of a homage to this match as 7 superstars compete in a ladder match for the same then and now IC title.

But not many talk about that one Stone Cold Vs Scott Hall match.

It was during a time when NWO made its debut in the WWE and every fan got their dream come true when Stone Cold went toe to toe with the NWO and faced Hall at Wrestlemania.

It was a good match and the standout moment is how Hall sold the Stunner. That was exaggerated but that works in the theatre of the absurd that is pro-wrestling.

#3 Shelton Benjamin

Hes not just an underrated Wrestlemania performer, hes the most underrated performer in WWE history. His athleticism was well talked about and it was riveting to watch but Benjamin never reached the heights that he should have in the first place. Many may remember himk as a TLC specialist and that one time he leaped into a painful Sweet Chin Music.

But all the Money In The Bank ladder matches are classic because of all the spots Benjamin executed. They were spectacular. They were captivating. They led the audience to stand up and take notice.

He led those matches with the kind of performance expected of him but never winning it and that is thegreatest travesty.

#2 Chris Jericho

Arguably, one of the greatest of all time, his one Wrestlemania main event came during the same year when Rock and Hogan faced off. Obviously, who could follow that? Despite the event taking place in his hometown, despite a decent showing and decent story, it was all overshadowed by that iconic clash.

He came up with the Money In The bank match concept and competed in the first ladder match and contributed in making it special.

Also, he’s been part of one of the most underrated matches in Wrestlemania history where he faced Christian to win the love of Trish Stratus. Of course, Stratus turned heel and that was the end of that love story.

He and CM Punk provided one of their many Match of The Year Contenders at Wrestlemania 28 having the best build up of all matches.

And amidst all of this is his classic and possibly best Wrestlemania match against his greatest rival and Mr. Wrestlemania himself, Shawn Michaels.

He’s lost all of them and therein, ironically, lies his biggest victory.

P.S.- He even got knocked out by Mickey Rourke, the boxer and the actor.

#1 Bret Hart

Bret Hart and HBK are names spoken in the same vein.Their greatness is incomparable but when it comes to Wrestlemania, HBK takes the cake. Sure, HBK has had more matches at Wrestlemania and Bret Hart has had more five star worthy matches but not many at the grandest stage of them all. But yet, he’s still got a few classics in his corner. His first ever WM match was aginst Ricky Steamboat which the Canadian himself calls one of his all-time favorite matches. Add to that the iconic Iron Man main event at Wrestlemania 12, the memorable one of a kind double turn match at Wrestlemania 13 against Stone Cold Steve Austin and the very underrated match against Roddy Rowdy Piper at Wrestlemania 8 and that great opening WM 10 match against his brother Owen Hart are reasons enough for him to be considered more vital when talking about Wrestlemania.
