5 possible opponents for Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series

The 15-time World Champion, John Cena was demolished by the so called, Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar, on Sunday at the Summer Slam PPV. Brock delivered 16 German Suplexes and two brutal F5s to Cena and beat the hell out of the champ to record a thumping victory. In the entire match that lasted for 20 minutes, John Cena was on his feet for less than 2 minutes. It was totally, the merciless beat down by Lesnar. The UFC trademark punches on the head of Cena, left him hopeless. This was the only main event championship brawl in the entire WWE history that ended in such a dominating way and this happened to a man, who has been the face of this company for more than a decade. Now the question that remains to be answered is, Who is the next man to beat Lesnar? Heading into the next big four pay-per-view, Survivor Series, these are thepotential contenders that could get a title opportunity.Note: This opinion is completely of the concerned author and not of the website.

#5 Daniel Bryan

As things currently stand, Daniel Bryan looks out of the picture due to a neck injury. He has updated the media and the WWE universe he will be requiring a second surgery and may return soon the ring. And if that return date comes before Survivor Series, then we possibly have a Beast vs The Beard main event scheduled for the PPV.

Bryan himself recently stated that he wants to take on Lesnar once he comes back. And a contrasting style with a massive difference in physical attributes will certainly make this encounter an interesting prospect for the wrestling fans.

#4 CM Punk

To win against Lesnar, one should not only beat Lesnar physically but also beat the intellect of Paul Heyman. This argument brings a very familiar name into the picture – “Best in the World-CM Punk”. He is a master of mind games, a former Heyman guy. CM Punk quit the WWE earlier this year and since then, he has never shown any signs of a return to the WWE ring. Ever since Brock Lesnar returned in 2013, he has faced some big names and won against all of them. The list of names include John Cena, The Undertaker, The Big Show and CM Punk.

CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar in “Summer Slam” 2013 was a very special match. It was a gruelling 36-minute encounter, in which CM Punk almost had Lesnar on two occasions, but the repeated interruption of Heyman cost him the match. He is the only opponent of Brock Lesnar, who put up a great fight against him, battling him toe-to-toe. He is a former WWE champion, Money in the Bank winner, the only superstar who beat The Shield in a 3-on-1 Handicap match. It looks convincing if CM Punk returns to the company and challenge Lesnar for a Championship match.

#3 Roman Reigns

The most dominant superstar in the WWE roster today, apart from Lesnar, is Roman Reigns. The 29 year old, is regarded as “The Power House” in the WWE. He has got a lot of talent and has been proving it. The latest victory of Reigns, over the ten time World Champion, Randy Orton at Summer Slam PPV makes him a potential contender for the WWE world heavyweight championship title.

Reigns has never been a WWE champion before. His very first title victory coming against Lesnar seems implausible. This is the only thing against Reigns that puts him out of the title race in the near future.

#2 Seth Rollins

The authority wanted Seth Rollins to win the MITB ladder match. They cleared the path for Rollins and made him “Mr. Money in the Bank”. They didn’t anticipate the return of Lesnar then.

It was almost impossible for Rollins to cash-in the contract against Lesnar because, for that to happen, Lesnar should lie down unconscious in the ring - which is an unthinkable situation. The only way this could happen is that Rollins should bribe the superstars in the locker room to attack Lesnar in the middle of the ring and facilitate him to cash-in the contract. But with Dean Ambrose round the corner, it would be impossible for Seth, as of now.

#1 John Cena

The WWE authority could think of a rematch between Cena and Lesnar at “Night of Champions”. The way in which Cena was humiliated by Lesnar at Summer Slam, doesn’t give any sort of hope for the WWE universe that John Cena could cope up and indulge in yet another brawl with the beast.

Even if he does so, the chances of his success are low. It could be highly impossible for Cena, to prepare for a fight against Brock, in 3 weeks with the same tools he has. But at Survivor Series, WWE could use Cena again, especially when they do not have a plan B or C in place. Cena has been used as the babyface time and time again and it won’t be surprising to see him main event again to sell more tickets.
