5 Reasons Why CM Punk Might Return at Payback 2014

Its been almost five months since CM Punk started his unexplained hiatus from WWE. Thing have changed a lot since then and the company apparently moved forward without him. They managed to let Daniel Bryan have a lot of spotlight with his title reign while Shield also started rising the ranks as the babyface faction. Bray Wyatt got one over John Cena and the midcard titles also started to make sense. The company was showing that they dont need Punk with all these, but as we edge closer the rumors of Punk returning has resurfaced. Its a bit optimistic to begin with but with WWE we never know. There are a lot of reasons which suggest that the rumors maybe right and here is a look at them.

#5 The Marriage with AJ Lee

It was revealed that AJ Lee and Punk will tie the knot soon which apparently is a positive sign for the WWE fans.

AJ is one of the most sort out Divas in the company and she still is under a lengthy contract. There are rumors of her returning to begin the much awaited feud with Paige anytime soon. What this means for Punk will be that his new wife will be on road for almost 300 days in a year.

On the other hand, if Punk decides to get his neck back in the business, what he could have is some quality time with his wife instead of wandering around arenas while AJ will be busy touring the world.

As they say, a woman could change a man to the core and Punk after all is classified under the same category.

#4 The Stocks are going to hell

WWE has been struggling financially for some time now even though they are a zillion times better than what TNA is going through.

The stocks are unfortunately going down which cost Vince McMahon his billionaire tag. Network also hasn’t gone in the WWE way.

So in such a crisis, paying a huge fee to a man who doesn’t appear for wrestling might be something that WWE would reconsider.

If Punk showed up for the money they pay him, it will be a big boost for the company in terms of stock since the returning Punk will be something that they could show up when they start negotiating for their business deals.

#3 WWE lost their top babyface

Apart from the financial struggle, one other bad news that the company had last week was about the injury of Daniel Bryan.

Even though there are the lights of Cena and Shield, Bryan simply was someone who reflected as the top babyface in the company.

Now that he has been taken out, it’s a big void in the company that couldn’t go unnoticed. If Punk comes back at Payback, it would satisfy his ego of being the top guy in the business.

Punk will get a chance to be more over with the fans than he ever was now that Bryan doesn’t cast a shadow while he is injured. Punk could get hold of the title as well setting him straight into the main event scene with a return.

#2 Punk is going vocal again

After maintaining a lot of silence after his departure, Punk finally decided speak out after a long time. He had his first tweet in months this week and along with that he came out to say that he is marrying AJ Lee.

Though he didn’t mention anything about WWE, the fact that he came back to Twitter was a positive sign. Along with that, Punk was also seen training in the gym of a former WWE wrestler which further raise the chances.

There are no doubts about his physique at the moment and him deciding to be more involved with the commentary and social media might be a hint saying that he is pretty much on his way back into the limelight.

Warming out the crowd for the big return is something that we’ve seen in the past as well with the WWE and Payback sure gets interesting with that in mind.

#1 Payback is in Chicago and Punk has score to settle with Kane

The last time WWE came to Chicago, the fans almost hijacked the show with CM Punk chants and the company wouldn’t want that to happen on a pay-per-view.

As far as Punk is concerned he never gave any explanations for his hometown fans as well who stood by him during all his storms and lightings. So if Punk at least decides to give a farewell speech, it’s sure going to be in Chicago.

If Punk wants to stay for the long run instead, he could just fill in the void left by Bryan and be the surprise opponent for Kane. Kane and Punk were locking horns when we finally saw Punk and it was Kane who cost Punk his Royal Rumble.

So it will be Payback for Punk at Payback if he decides to come in and all these reasons suggest that he surely might be back in the squared circle.
