5 Reasons why Hulk Hogan does not deserve the current treatment

AxelMania: 2015-2015

Hulk Hogan deserves betterVince McMahon was the Steve Jobs of Professional Wrestling. He wanted to change the face of the business and needed a bankable wrestler who had a mainstream appeal for the same. After some searching, Vince McMahon ended up with Terry Bollea. Terry had the charisma to be a mainstream star and Vince decided to bank on the same.Vinces promotion flourished with Terry and fast forward to the present, Terry is completely erased from the WWE archives. A lot of debates are going on whether Terry deserves this treatment or not. Both the sides have arguments worth mentions, but this list is going to take a look at the latter category. So here is a look at five reasons why he doesnt deserve to be treated like this.

#6 Honourable Mention: The doom of AxelMania

AxelMania: 2015-2015

The WWE Universe was probably split on AxelMania, but it was fun while it lasted. Rest In Peace, AxelMania. Jokes apart, here are the real reasons why Hogan deserves a better treatment.

#5 Everyone makes mistakes

We are humans, we are born to make mistakes

Humans learn from their mistakes. And if you think a mistake like this is going to define Hulk Hogan, then you are going to face some serious problems in life. The funny part is, the video was taped years ago and we didn’t even bother to check whether Hogan changed or not. Just for the words that came out of his mouth, Hogan is treated like someone who murdered his family and committed suicide (with all respect to Chris Benoit).

Now, think about Hogan as your best friend. He went on to commit something you did not like. Years later, you find it out and he apologise you for the same, would you forgive him? Of course, you will because that’s what we humans do. If we were going to outcast everyone who did some mistake at some part of their life, we are probably going to leave the earth vacant. Speaking of which…

#4 Hulk Hogan is not the only culprit

Alberto Del Rio was fired for reacting to a racist comment

WWE wants to erase Hulk Hogan because he slurred out some racial comments. But on what grounds does WWE call themselves racism free? Apart from Vince McMahon’s usage of the ‘N’ word, there have been numerous instances of racist mentions throughout WWE’s history. Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio accused WWE of the same and Del Rio was fired for reacting.

Cryme Tyme was a racist gimmick, Kerwin White was a racist gimmick, the Mexicools were racist gimmicks, Mohamed Hassan was a racist stereotype gimmick and when was the last time that WWE had a black champion for that matter? And despite all these, when Hogan accidently spews out the ‘N’ word, everyone loses their mind. It shows the hypocrisy with which WWE is treating the incident.

#3 The financial point of view

Hogan did not drive WWE’s stocks

Okay, let’s say that WWE was forced to cut all their ties with Hulk Hogan due to financial reasons. Their worth came down by $50 Million dollar due to the controversy and it could be held as a reason for Hogan’s firing. But then again, was Hogan the face of WWE? Or was Hogan the WWE champion so that his image would affect the company so badly?

WWE did not lose money (they did, but not much), their worth just came down. Hogan was clearly not the money maker in the company and the shares will be up and running by next week even if Hogan is there or Hogan is not there. His presence is not going to make a big difference. It’s guys like Lesnar, John Cena, and the other big names that drove the business and Hogan had the smallest role to play.

So even if WWE had kept him in the payroll, the controversy would have passed and the stocks would have been raised naturally without many headaches.

#2 The way in which veterans reacted

Mick Foley defended Hogan

A plethora of celebrities had their say on Hulk Hogan’s incident. While some of the youngsters were disappointed with Hogan some veterans of the business were firmly backing him. For instance, Jim Ross, who is one of the most respected guys in the business, backed Hogan on Twitter. The same reaction came from Mick Foley. Undertaker is also rumored to be on Hogan’s side.

So why did all these industry Veterans back Hogan? Because, they know how the wrestling business works. They know all the racial slurs that go behind the scenes and probably found it unfair to single out Hogan for what he did in the videotape.

Again, the tape is pretty old and Hogan could well be a new man now. If WWE still wants to erase Hogan from their history books, they still have a big problem which is mentioned in the next slide.

#1 He is too large to be erased

He is a big part of WWE’s history

WWE erased Chris Benoit from the history books. It was not easy to do the same, but they did it someone and currently there exist no Royal Rumble winner for 2004 and there exist no Triple Threat match main event of WrestleMania XX. These were the two major moments of Benoit’s career and WWE lost a lot of sweat to erase them

Now, think about Hogan. The guy was the reason why WWE went mainstream. He was part of the WrestleMania main event on around 8 separate occasions. His match with Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III was iconic.

So now, is WWE going to say that nothing like that existed? Are they going to erase all those WrestleMania main events that Hogan was part of? Removing Hogan would leave a big hole in WWE’s history books and that is not something they would want.

Do you think these reasons are good enough to defend Hogan? Let us know in the comments section.
