5 Reasons why 'The Rusev-Ryback' feud can be good

This Sunday after Ryback fought in a lacklustre match against Kane at TLC and Rusev fought in an equally lacklustre match against jack Swagger, the audience were witness to something new and hence a fresh feud kicked off. And so far so good. Be it standing face to face on RAW or beginning the first set of attacks on Smackdown, the feud hasn’t seen a dull moment in the brief time that it has been on air. Here are the five reasons why this feud might work:

#1 Early seeds planted

Remember Survivor Series? How can you not? The main event was one of the best and possibly the best match of the year. Every moment in that tag team match, every elimination, every pinfall meant something and led to the desired reaction. Ryback was expected to be someone to have a lot of impact considering the surge of momentum he got after he returned from injury. But instead he was the first superstar to be eliminated from his team. And who pinned him?

The Bulgarian Brute pinned the Big Guy.

Rusev can already boast about that not so clean pinfall as Rollins had a role to play in that and the referee as usual was distracted. But the early seeds of this feud were already planted in that match.

#2 Rusev\'s Momentum

Rusev made his way to the main roster at the beginning of this year and he still hasn’t faded into anonymity or jobber status. His entire gimmick of being a foreign heel, his agility and strength and add to that the promo skills of his manager, Lana and you have a successful stint as a character in WWE television. The recent inevitably very patriotic Tribute Of The Troops show was the perfect place for Rusev to thrive on some major heat. And so he did.

He isn’t the redoubtable superstar of the year but he’s still had a great first year at the main roster.

#3 Ryback\'s Momentum

Ryback has been talked about for various reasons. There are the forlorn Goldberg comparisons, there is the discussion about his various pushes and then there are CM Punk’s opinion on him. As Vince McMahon would (reportedly) shamelessly say,” Any publicity is good publicity”.

That argument can sit well with what Ryback’s position is in the WWE right now.

He is one of the most protected stars on the roster and that plays a huge role in making this feud worth caring about.

#4 A Battle of Equals?

Rusev hasn’t been ever pinned and neither has he ever submitted. That sounds like a kind of record of a certain somebody who Ryback reminds or reminded many fans about. Goldberg is really omnipresent in this feud.

Rusev’s record hasn’t made him boring but it has become an extention of his gimmick.

Ryback has been undefeated since his return, except that one glaring loss at Survivor Series by the hands of his new rival.

Ryback might finally have found a superstar with whom he can share some good in ring chemistry.

Needless to mention, strength is their prime USP.

#5 Something to look forward to

WWE is protecting both these guys majorly. So, it is expected that Ryback won’t lose clean to Rusev and if Ryback goes on to pin Rusev it’s going to be quite a moment. If Ryback becomes Rusev’s latest conquest, that really hampers Ryback’s move going forward. While the promos between both of them have the potential to be funny, the matches between them can be something unpredictable. Ateast it has the potential.
