7 things that went wrong in the WWE 2015 Royal Rumble match

Something just seemed off about the Rumble match. Sure there were some parts that worked well, but there were far too many things, including the end result, which didn’t work and in turn ticked fans off. As a result, we end another Royal Rumble with fans booing the winner out of the arena. Let’s take a look back now at several instances where the rumble went wrong and WWE made a massive mistake.

#1 Bryan eliminated so early

Going into the rumble there were two clear favourites. Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns. So what did WWE decide to do they had the much more popular star Bryan eliminated poorly fairly early on. The fans were obviously upset and expressed their anger with a chorus of boos. This was beginning of the downfall for the rumble match. After this incident the fans began to grow irritated and the match started to go somewhat downhill.

#2 Multiple bad eliminations

Daniel Bryan was the first bad elimination as he was eliminated far too early on and far too easily by Bray Wyatt. The other twounderdogs with a fairly good fighting chance, Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose, both suffered a similar fate. They were both eliminated poorly in an anti-climactic way by Big Show/Kane.

Also, one would assume Ziggler may have been chosen for the iron man type role, entering early and lasting a long time. Instead he entered at Number 30, had a short spout of energy, got a quick few eliminations, only to eliminated shortly by Show and Kane. Not to mention that Ambrose or Ziggler would have both been much better choices to win the whole thing.

#3 No Orton

Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of good surprise entrances such as Bubba Ray Dudley, The Boogeyman and DDP. However none of these men were really legit threats to win. That’s why the rumble needed Randy Orton. Many assumed Orton would return as a surprise entrant as he had been away for quite some time now and the rumble would prove a perfect opportunity by which to make his return.

Also, Randy would have added some more legitimacy to the bout and served a decent threat. Orton didn’t need to win the event, but returning as Number 30 would have received a pop and help improve the bout. Surprisingly enough there were many others that could have returned but didn’t such as Sheamus, Bo Dallas or even Mark Henry. Also no NXT talents debuted this year which was a bit of a shame.

#4 Big Show and Kane in final 4

Despite their past reputations of being unstoppable monsters, in the year 2015, Kane & Big Show have no business being in the final four of The Royal Rumble. When it came down to Show, Kane and Reigns it became blindingly obvious that Reigns would emerge victorious and therefore removed any remaining excitement out of the crowd as both veterans lacked any legitimate threat.

It appears the only reason Kane and Show lasted until the end, was to feed off their heat and force the fans to cheer for Reigns. However it backfired and Reigns was booed out of the building. It turned out Rusev hadnt actually been eliminated but Reigns shortly finished him off. Rusev was expected to have a strong showing but never really had a chance at winning. Once again it appears Rusev was used due to his massive as another attempt to trick the fans into cheering Reigns but it failed miserably.

#5 Attempting to \'Use\' The Rock

Not only did WWE try to use Rusev/Show/Kanes heat, they also attempted to use The Rocks immense popularity as an effort to lure fans into supporting Reigns. Once again it failed as not even the fans overwhelming adulation for The Rock could save Reigns from being eaten alive by the Philadelphia crowd which brings me to my next point.

#6 The Philly crowd

Of all the crowds they tried to force Reigns and an offbeat Rumble upon, it just happened to be a diehard pro wrestling town, the home of ECW, Philadelphia. Chances are that any other town may have been slightly more accepting of Reigns but the Philly crowd were never going to have any part of it. As expected, they expressed their severe displeasure and straight up outrage, booing Roman out of the building

#7 Reigns winning (WWE\'s stubbornness)

Months in advance it seemed Reigns was going to win the rumble. After returning from injury it seemed even more obvious. Bryans return created a slight hiccup so what did WWE do, eliminate him early. The fans were clearly beginning to turn on Reigns as he was further shoved down our throats. But WWE didnt pay attention. It should have been obvious that if Reigns were to win he would be treated to the same behaviour as Batista was last year.

But WWE didnt listen and chose to be stuck in their stubborn ways. They failed to learn their lesson from the previous year. They chose to hand the fans a massive slap in the face proving once and for all that Vince McMahon has clearly lost touch. Despite having numerous young talent that are much more skilled than Reigns in the ring, possess better mic skills and are more over with the fans, WWE still chose to push a guy simply because he has solid physique Its times like these when you have to seriously question whether Vince McMahon or the creative department suffer from some sort of legitimate mental disability.
