WWE Battleground 2014 : Pros and Cons of each Superstar winning the WWE Championship

The WWE title scene is going to be sorted at Battleground with a fatal four way match between Kane, John Cena, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton.John Cena is clearly the favorite going in as the defending champion, but all the other three competitors will have some say in the ending. From the three, Randy Orton and Kane have already tasted gold before in their career making Reigns the underdog in terms of experience. However, over the years, we have seen that the experience factor doesnt decide how WWE books their performers and here is a look at what could be the pros and cons of the title ending up with the options available in the Battleground main event.

#4 Kane

Pros

Kane winning the WWE title would be the least predictable result from the lot. The WWE Universe actually gives no chance for the big red monster and sees him as a puppet of the Authority. If Kane wins this would be a last title run for the veteran and he truly deserves it as well.

Along with this, the company could turn Kane against the authority giving them another rebel to fight against along with the lights of Roman Reigns and John Cena.

Cons

The problem with Kane winning the title would be the title match at SummerSlam. If the company doesn’t have Daniel Bryan ready for the pay-per-view, Kane would end up facing other wrestlers which would be less intriguing.

He could drop the title soon as well since Brock Lesnar is returning making him look like a transition champion rather than a credible one for his last run.

#3 Randy Orton

Pros

Randy Orton is someone who has the experience of carrying the WWE title. He has dealt with situations of main eventing SummerSlam and wouldn’t crumble under pressure if he had to do it again.

And along with this, Randy Orton winning the WWE title would strengthen the Authority further. As they are the only credible heels in the company right now, a main event presence at SummerSlam would be effective and would serve the purpose of carrying their momentum further to the next pay-per-views.

Cons

The last time Orton had his title reign, the WWE Universe weren’t thrill with how the Viper carried himself around. Orton is nowhere near the level of John Cena or Daniel Bryan when it comes to handling the microphone and also he was booked as a duck champion instead of a strong one.

The fans might get bored seeing Orton being champion again and the fact that he would face John Cena in near future makes the prospect the least interesting.

#2 Roman Reigns

Pros

Roman Reigns is the only superstar in the match who hasn’t won the title in the past, so this would be a fresh choice for everyone involved. A new star will be born at the pay-per-view and Roman Reigns will officially be inducted into the main event scene.

At SummerSlam, Reigns could go head to head with the Authority and Hunter and holding the title would obviously project him as the top face against Hunter’s rule.

Cons

Reigns’ first advantage is actually his biggest disadvantage. He has been exposed to the main event scene for only a short time and that too was in multi wrestler matches where it is hard to evaluate a particular wrestler.

The booking he has been getting is making him look good at the moment but it’s still too early to predict how good Reigns would be as a singles wrestler. He still needs some more time to adapt to the situations and prove that he could carry the company on his shoulder like Cena.

#1 John Cena

Pros

John Cena is the face of the company, Period. He has been carrying the company on his lone shoulders for a long time now and he is someone who the company can trust.

And since Brock Lesnar is making his big return for SummerSlam, the WWE will have a big draw match between Cena and Lesnar if Cena keeps hold of his title. A win for Cena at some stage over the feud would also elevate Cena further now that he is the one who ended the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.

Cons

Cena walking out of Battleground as the WWE champion would be the most predictable option. The company had made it obvious that Cena will retain his title since they might be plotting a match against Lesnar.

However, the problem with Cena and Lesnar locking horns at SummerSlam is the way Cena is treated by the fans. No matter how big the heel against him is, the WWE fans have managed to jeer Cena and break the conventions. The fans cheering for a man who ended Undertaker’s streak would be a nightmare for the WWE at their biggest event of summer.
