WWE Battleground 2015: Predictions and possible opponents for every champion

Nikki Bella is on her way to becoming the longest reigning Divas champion

Brock Lesnar and Seth RollinsAlmost every championship in the WWE was up for grabs at Money in the Bank. The fans, however, only saw one title change and will be expecting something different at Battleground. WWE has already added the WWE championship match into the pay-per-view and we might get to see further additions in the coming weeks. But the real question is: who will drop their title and who will retain. There are some possibilities that the company could explore. Battleground might not be a big pay-per-view like SummerSlam or WrestleMania, but it could have its fair share of surprise. With that said, here is a look at the predictions for every champion and their possible opponents.

#5 Divas Championship - Retains

Nikki Bella is on her way to becoming the longest reigning Divas champion

The chances of the divas championship being defended at Battleground are low. Paige is the only worthy contender for Nikki Bella's championship. The Brit, however, is least worried about the championship. Paige has other problems to solve and will not go after the title until it is settled.

Also, it wouldn’t be a good idea to have another Paige vs. Nikki Bella showdown unless it is a steel cage match (which is not going to happen). Although the title will not be defended, the divas will be in action. It will be either a handicap match or a tag team match featuring the Bella twins and Paige. The partner of Paige is a great storyline WWE could work on.

Possible opponent: Not defended

#4 Tag Team Championship - drops

New tag team champions Prime Time Players

Tag Team division is going through a crisis right now. First, the Usos got injured and now, Tyson Kidd and Cesaro are out of action as well. This has left Prime Time Players as the champions. Them alongside New Day, Wyatt Family and Lucha Dragons are the main teams still standing. It would make sense to give New Day another shot at the title, but that might not happen at Battleground.

They will probably have to spend their rematch clause in some weekly show. This is because, WWE needs to set up a Wyatt Family vs. Prime Time Players match at Battleground. Wyatts are the favourites to win the title now and it might happen at Battleground.

Possible Opponent: Wyatt Family

#3 US Championship - retains

Kevin Owens vs John Cena has been an engaging feud

The United States Championship has not been defended for the past two pay-per-views. John Cena and Kevin Owens have been so good in the ring, that we actually forgot about the title. This will not be the case at Battleground. WWE would want to stretch this feud all the way to SummerSlam, and the only way in which they could do is to involve the US title.

Cena and Owens could have a match for the title with Cena retaining via disqualification. A feud ending no-disqualification match can then be booked at SummerSlam, where the titles could change hands. Owens winning at SummerSlam against Cena is what the fans want.

Possible Opponent: Kevin Owens

#2 Intercontinental Championship - Ryback retains

Can the Big Guy take down the Big Show?

As things stand now, the Intercontinental Championship is seeing a three-way battle. Big Show was so close to becoming the champion at Money in the Bank and he will be pushing his case. Meanwhile, The Miz is lurking around the scene as well even though he has no case to make.

WWE might go for another Big Show vs. Ryback match at Battleground. The last time these two faced off, the fans were not impressed. However, if WWE is saving the triple threat for SummerSlam, then Show is the right challenger. Miz could interfere once again in the match which will then force a Triple Threat match at SummerSlam for the title.

Possible Opponent: The Big Show

#1 WWE Championship - Rollins retains

Brock Lesnar is abck to take back the WWE World Heavyweight championship

Seth Rollins will be facing his biggest challenge till date at Battleground. On paper, it is a rematch of the WrestleMania match but in reality, it is going to be something much bigger. Lesnar will be in no mood to play around. Rollins, on the other hand, has a lot to prove. A majority of the fans will see Lesnar as the favourite here, but the chances of Rollins dropping the title are low.

The main reason for this is SummerSlam. There is a lot of money in a Rollins vs. Lesnar match if it happens at SummerSlam. This will probably force WWE to end this Battleground match in disqualification or an interference ending so that there could be a rematch at SummerSlam.

Opponent: Brock Lesnar
