WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Early Match Card Predictions

Now that the WrestleMania is over the WWE wouldve already laid out the plans for their next pay-per-view, Extreme Rules. The Raw after WrestleMania saw WWE hit the refresh button and there were some interesting prospects thrown into the mix from WWE. After Takers streak came to an end, it looks like a new era is going to rain upon as and if it is, then Extreme Rules is going to be the first chapter. Its still early to draw conclusions from only one show that happened, but here is a look at the possible matches that may end up in the Extreme Rules match card.

#6 AJ Lee vs Paige (Divas Championship)

Paige’s introduction into the main roster all of a sudden gave a new life to the Divas division which was well on its way to extinction. AJ Lee did whatever she could over the period of one year and she was slowly losing her grip on things in between the reality television girls.

But Paige, who brings “wresting” into the division, will complement AJ and the two could go on to having a feud which will outclass the midcarders.

The title win that Paige had on Raw was actually short and she didn’t have a credible match to show what she has to the WWE Universe. So Extreme Rules will be the ideal stage to provide the opportunity and this could be the first of many matches to come between these two.

#5 The Usos vs The Ascension (Tag Team title Match)

The NXT talents getting a push into the main roster were apparently the theme on the Raw which followed WrestleMania. While Bo Dallas and Adam Rose got some air time, the Ascension had to stay on Twitter and tease their promotion.

At the current stage after the explosion of Real Americans, the division barely has three regular teams which make the promotion of Ascension a necessity. And knowing them and the faith that WWE has in them, don’t be surprised if they directly go into a feud with Usos.

Like the Paige-AJ Lee situation, the Usos could also strike a feud with Ascension because there are no teams left for them in the division.

#4 Jack Swagger vs Cesaro

After months and months of teasing, WWE finally broke up the Real Americans at WrestleMania. Cesaro managed to get a bigger push than expected after that and ended up being the new Paul Heyman guy.

Cesaro jumping ships wasnt a great sign for Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger was already annoyed with the achievements that Cesaro has been getting. The battle lines between the two were drawn at Raw itself and with two managers on their ringside, its going to be a clash worth watching.

The alignment of Cesaro is still a doubt at the moment and this match could clear the air and set things straight for his big push.

#3 John Cena vs Bray Wyatt (Extreme Rules)

If you thought that the story between John Cena and Bray Wyatt was over with WrestleMania, well think again. From what Bray Wyatt said on Raw, he is eager to settle the score at Extreme Rules.

Since Cena got the win at WrestleMania, don’t be surprised if Bray gets one over the Cenation leader because Bray clearly deserves it. WWE could also wrap up this feud with a Bray win so that it will end with each one setting the stage for a tiebreaker in the distant future.

One problem which should be solved will be the usage of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. Both were overshadowed in WrestleMania as Cena and Bray took the centre stage and WWE needs to invest them in a different feud instead of wasting the talent.

#2 Shield vs Evolution

The face turn of Shield made sense when Kane revealed that it was Triple H who ordered the beat down on Shield. And it made more sense when Triple H decided to team up Batista and Randy Orton to challenge the Usos.

Now that Shield is breathing down the throat of the Authority, what this could lead to is an epic six man tag team match between The Hounds of Justice and Evolution.

Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista are the favorites to team up but if Hunter decides to watch from the sidelines then Kane could fill in for him as well. Whatever happens, it’s going to be one of the show stealers of Extreme Rules.

And WWE teasing a possible return of the War games also adds to the anticipation levels.

#1 Daniel Bryan vs Brock Lesnar (WWE World Heavyweight title)

Lesnar is now in a highly elevated status in the WWE after he ended the legendary streak of Undertaker in WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan meanwhile is also riding high after getting hold of the title by going through all the obstacles that were in his way.

So making the two clash will be an obvious decision.

Before the feud with Taker happened, Lesnar claimed that the motive for him to return was the WWE title and now that Taker has been moved aside, he could relaunch his quest for the title.

Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar could work out a great main event for the Extreme Rules and if Lesnar is to depart after this, he could let Bryan win making Bryan literally the top star in the company since he would beat the man who beat the streak.
