WWE Extreme Rules 2015: 5 Big twists that could happen at the pay-per-view

There is a reason why WrestleMania 31 is hailed as one of the best WrestleManias in history. It had some solid matches; some good booking and above all, it had the twists that fans didnt expect. The way in which WWE gave a showdown between NWO and DX, the Money in the Bank cash in of Seth Rollins and Stings defeat were some of the best surprises that WWE pulled off at Mania. All of them managed to fans to mark out in one way or the other and they will be expecting something similar or more from Extreme Rules.Though we might not get to see twists to the level of WrestleMania, here are some of the potential shocks that the creative team could pull off when WWE goes Extreme.

#5 Brock Lesnar makes his return

According to the dirt sheets, Brock Lesnar is not supposed to return till SummerSlam which is why his return would be a major twist at Extreme Rules. Since almost all the fans know the type of deal Lesnar signs with WWE, no one would be expecting him to show up at Extreme Rules making it an ideal plot for WWE.

Lesnar need not wrestle at the pay-per-view; all he needs to do is show up and beat the hell out of Seth Rollins. Rollins is going to pay for his sins at one point or the other and WWE will benefit a lot if they let that happen at Extreme Rules. An interference ending would protect both Orton and Rollins for the longer run.

#4 The monster is back

A tease of Kane going back to his roots has already been dropped by the WWE. The masked Kane might not have much impact as he used to have during his prime but it could help Seth Rollins get some mileage before his eventual showdown with Brock Lesnar.

Now, Kane’s return to the dark side need not cause interference in the Randy Orton – Seth Rollins match because it is not big enough as a Brock Lesnar return. Instead, WWE could save it for a post-match segment, which would then drive a post- Extreme Rules angle. Kane bringing back the mask would be a great moment, even though we all know how the story is going to end.

#3 Bray locks horn with Reigns

Bray and his cryptic promos made a return last week on Raw and just like always, we got no idea who he was mentioning in the segment. A majority of the fans have concluded that it would be Randy Orton and they have all the right to think so. Bray and Orton locking horns would not only be mouthwatering but it will also be the best for business move at this moment.

However since all the fans are expecting this to happen, what if WWE feeds Bray to Roman Reigns? Surprise isn’t it? Reigns vs. Bray feud is not exactly everyone’s game but we never know what is going to happen. If pulled off right, WWE could run it all the way to SummerSlam, where the two could have a big showdown.

#2 Sting shows up and challenges The Undertaker

Okay, take the towel and wipe away that drool. This angle is a dream scenario for all the fan-boys out there and if WWE decided to make this angle happen at Extreme Rules, then we are in for a treat. Both Sting and Undertaker have no commitments as things stand now, and did look in pretty good condition.

Sting coming out and challenging Taker at Extreme Rules is going to sky- rocket the credibility of the pay-per-view and at the same time, will make everyone tune into the next Raw. Taker and Sting need not come out every week in and week out to push the angle forward if it happens as WWE could pre-record vignettes to keep the fans invested.

#1 Rusev wins the United States Championship

Which is the most predictable match in Extreme Rules? Okay, every match is predictable, but which is the most predictable match? The Rusev vs John Cena one, isn’t it? And while it’s dead predictable for the fans, it is also the best chance for WWE to pull off a surprise.

Rusev winning the United States Championship at Extreme Rules will go down in the history books as a big upset and it will bring back some credibility to Rusev. No one would complain about Cena losing out in the pay-per-view as well. It is a win-win situation for the WWE from every angle and will also earn them some praise from the internet fan base as well.
