WWE Extreme Rules 2015: 5 Possible Endings for Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins Match

The date between Randy Orton and Seth Rollins inside a steel cage is all set to headline Extreme Rules on April 26, 2015. Some might see this as a rematch for the WrestleMania showdown that these two had but the stakes are apparently higher here.It will be the first major title defense of Seth Rollins after becoming the WWE champion and will be responsible for building some foundations. At the same time, steel cage always raises the stakes, doesn’t it?No matter how many arguments come against this match, it is worthy of headlining a pay-per-view and here is a look at the possible ways in which WWE could have it end at Extreme Rules.

#5 Eater of the World Meets The Viper

After the epic encounter with Undertaker at WrestleMania 31, Bray Wyatt made his return to WWE programming with a message about love. WWE is planning some solid angle for the eater of the worlds and Randy Orton is the prime candidate to be involved with Bray.

Orton has a lot of baby face momentum at the moment and taking a clean loss at Extreme Rules would hurt that. So instead WWE could let Bray interfere and cost Orton his title match. It is going to spark a feud between Orton and Bray while Rollins can move forward to face off Roman Reigns in the next pay-per-view.

The fans might not be impressed with this ending but it will be a good decision on the longer run as a Randy Orton – Bray Wyatt feud could steal the show.

#4 Revenge of the Beast

Seth Rollins has a big red target painted on his back and it’s not because of him being the WWE champion. Rollins messed with the wrong Beast back in WrestleMania 31 and he is going to pay the price for this at one point or the other.

If we go by the rumors, Lesnar will not make his return till SummerSlam so what happens if he shows up at Extreme Rules? We get surprised of course. Lesnar is still in a kayfabe suspension at the moment and to incorporate the angle, WWE could let Lesnar come out through the crowd.

He could then break the Steel cage’s door and knock out both Orton and Rollins and therefore ending the match in a no contest. Lesnar could go on to cause some more destruction around the arena before being carried away by Paul Heyman.

#3 An RKO from top of the steel cage

The ban enforced on Randy Orton’s RKO is perhaps the most interesting aspect about the match at Extreme Rules. Without RKO, Orton will be handicapped throughout the match and at the same time it opens the door for some excellent story telling.

Orton will be tempted to use the RKO at various points of the match and there will probably be a point where he snaps. WWE could play out the angle throughout the match and build up to a big ending where Orton can perform an RKO from top of the cage or something similar.

It would not only give the fans a moment to cherish down the future, but it will also let WWE protect both the superstars as Orton is losing via disqualification.

#2 Biggest surprise of the year?

For someone who hasn’t watched wrestling for a long time, it is a match that can go either way. But for a regular viewer of the WWE programmer, this match has only one winner, Seth Rollins. And the other result will simply go down in the books as a big surprise.

Despite this, Orton winning the WWE championship at this stage would be completely credible. He has a lot of momentum for his current face run and a WWE championship reign could cap it off well. There is also the possibility of Orton locking horns with Brock Lesnar at some point.

This however, would devalue the whole Money in the Bank cash in and will take away the momentum that Rollins built throughout the last year.

#1 One down, a lot more to go for Rollins

As pointed out earlier, this will be the first major title defense of Rollins after the MITB cash in at WrestleMania. WWE has a lot of faith in Rollins as we know and Extreme Rules could be the first step in many that he will take as the WWE Champion.

A Clean win for Rollins would be a bad thing for Orton but since he does not have the RKO at his disposal, even if he loses, Orton has a case in his hand. The J & J security could also come to the help of Rollins by closing the door of the cage or even climbing into the ring, to distract Orton.

No matter which way it happens, Rollins retaining the championship is the most likely ending for Extreme Rules main event.
