WWE Fast Lane 2015 - 3 likely ways the Cena vs Rusev feud may play out

Rusev’s career is going to take a big step in the upward direction when he will face off against John Cena at the inaugural Fast Lane pay-per-view. Facing off against the United States Champion right after a WWE championship feud is a downward spiral for the Cenation leader but the Rusev is indeed a credible foe.WWE wasted no time in booking the feud after Royal Rumble and it shows how stern the company was about pulling off this angle during the WrestleMania period. Now that the match is booked for the pay-per-view, the question will be about the ending WWE has planned for. There are certain paths they could take and here is a look at them.

#3 Ending it before the start

One of the biggest drawbacks of WWE in recent times is the lack of development they give to storylines. The company has been notorious when it comes to ending angles prematurely and if that is going to be the case with Rusev – Cena, then Cena will bury Rusev at Fast Lane.

A clean win for the Cenation leader is not what the company needs at this moment but might be the result they will give out for the WWE Universe.

WWE will be going to this resort if they have another possible opponent for Cena. Rusev will get the benefit of working with Cena under the same spotlight but he will not be fortunate enough to get a win.

#2 The streak lives

Rusev’s streak of not getting pinned might not be as good as the other great streaks that professional wrestling has seen but it is a bankable prospect in the current WWE landscape.

Roman Reigns did pin Rusev in a house show a few weeks back but in front of the main stream audience, the streak is still intact. There have been many possible streak Enders in Rusev’s short career but the biggest threat would be John Cena.

If Rusev manages to get over Cena cleanly at Fast Lane, then his streak would achieve a truck load of credibility. WWE could then give Cena a win at WrestleMania making the feud one each rather than burying Rusev completely like the previous possible ending.

#1 Letting it breathe till WrestleMania

WWE’s decision to pit Cena against Rusev came right after the Royal Rumble. The biggest take away from this is the potential match between Cena and Rusev at WrestleMania. A feud which starts right after Rumble is destined to go all the way to Mania.

Now that Cena is not in the title picture, Rusev is the best option. It could work similar to how the Bray Wyatt feud worked last year at Mania but for that, the match at Fast Lane should end indecisively.

Ending the match with both men knocked out will be the best way to reach there with the alternative being a disqualification ending. There isn’t any credible name for the outside interference so WWE needs to go with either the knockout ending or the disqualification.
